Arrive ready for the mountain part of the trip
Imagine leaving Tokyo after several days of shopping. You arrange shipment of the extra suitcase from the hotel to Silk Crane and pack a smaller bag with the clothes needed for Hakone.
At Hakone-Yumoto, you can focus on the connection and a first look around the valley town. The spare case stays out of the mountain journey. Arrange its delivery to a later hotel, with time for shipping before you need those belongings again.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day
Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

Let later-trip belongings skip the mountain transfers
Silk Crane works for luggage that is not needed during this part of the holiday. Arrange storage before Hakone-Yumoto and send from your hotel. Keep the overnight bag, documents and essentials with you.
You can then choose the route around the trip rather than returning here to retrieve the spare case. Silk Crane’s later delivery needs planning; it is separate from a local counter holding tonight’s suitcase.
Find lockers or ask about temporary holding
The official Hakone-Yumoto station guide shows lockers on more than one level. Its map marks banks around the second-floor station area and first-floor access areas. Use the map and current signs to select a location that fits your return, and check whether it is inside or outside the gate.
The guide also lists temporary luggage drop-off at the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center. Ask about current acceptance, charges and the collection deadline before leaving a case. The presence of a counter does not establish that every suitcase can be accepted or retrieved at any hour.
Do not confuse temporary holding with the Hakone Baggage Service counter. One keeps the bag for collection at the station; the other offers local delivery to listed hotels.
Check the current hotel-delivery window
If the suitcase is needed at the Hakone hotel tonight, the local luggage transport service may suit that journey. Its current outbound window is 8:30–12:00 at Hakone-Yumoto, with hotel pickup after 15:00. Your hotel must be on the operator’s partner list.
For hotel-to-station return delivery, arrange it through the hotel front desk by 10:00; collection at the station is listed as 13:30–18:30. Check current notices and leave time for the counter. Older leaflets show different cutoffs, so use the live service page for planning.
Avoid a collection trip that undoes the route
Before using a station locker, decide whether the day ends here, at the hotel or beyond Lake Ashi. A loop through the mountain transport network can leave the bag on the wrong side of the plan. Keep the collection time beside the train time in your itinerary.
If the outing includes the ropeway, the operator’s large-luggage FAQ says large luggage cannot ride. Arrange storage before that connection. Our Gora Station luggage guide covers the next major interchange separately.
Send the spare suitcase and plan its return
Book storage, follow the sending instructions and ask your hotel front desk to help arrange the shipment. Keep medicine, documents and the belongings you need during shipping with you. Confirm that your later hotel can receive the case, then plan your storage and delivery dates.
Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately; the storage and shipping cost guide explains the distinction. Arrange delivery in advance rather than expecting immediate collection at the station or attraction.

Questions before you go
Are there lockers at Hakone-Yumoto Station?
Yes. The official station map shows several locations across station and access levels. Check the actual bank’s fit, availability, gate position and access hours.
Is temporary holding the same as hotel delivery?
No. Temporary holding means returning to collect the bag. The separate local carry service sends it to a listed partner hotel, subject to its reception deadline.
What is the hotel-delivery drop-off deadline?
The current operator page lists outbound station reception until noon. Check the live page and partner list before relying on it, since older leaflets show different times.
Can I use Silk Crane without returning to Hakone-Yumoto?
Yes, when you send belongings into storage for later delivery. Arrange shipment from your hotel and plan delivery to a later stop, allowing time for shipping.
