The Sounzan station map places lockers on the first floor, outside the cable-car ticket gates. The cable-car platforms are below, while the ropeway boarding area is above. Check the actual compartment size, availability and collection terms when you arrive.
The operator’s ropeway luggage FAQ says large luggage cannot be taken aboard. It lists paid lockers or station-office holding as alternatives; ask staff about space if the lockers do not work for your bag.
Decide where the day ends before storing the case
A loop that continues through Owakudani to Togendai can finish far from a Sounzan locker. Put the collection journey into your plan before boarding, including the day’s service times. A boat or bus onward does not move the stored bag.
If you are staying in Hakone, the local hotel-delivery service may suit today’s overnight bag. Its hotel list and acceptance deadlines matter; arrange it at Hakone-Yumoto before travelling up the mountain.
Send the extra case and arrange its return
Book your storage plan and follow the sending instructions. Ask your hotel front desk to help arrange the shipment, or use a convenience store that accepts it or a Yamato service center. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you.
