Tokyo Station luggage storage: send your suitcase from the hotel and travel onward with a small bag.

5 Tokyo Station Luggage Storage Options: Choose Your Best Fit

Leave Tokyo Station with a smaller bag—and no return trip for the suitcase.

With Silk Crane, send extra luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, explore Japan with less to carry, and arrange delivery to a later hotel or departure airport. Monthly and annual storage plans keep the bags out of your itinerary; shipping is charged separately.

Need your bag back in a few hours? Tokyo Station’s lockers and baggage counters are the local answer. This is Silk Crane’s guide to five useful options, chosen for different travel plans rather than a single winner for every visitor.

From Marunouchi to Kanazawa with a smaller bag

Tokyo Station luggage storage: send your suitcase from the hotel and travel onward with a small bag.
Send your suitcase from the hotel and take the next train with the bag you need.

Picture a few Tokyo nights followed by a week split between Kanazawa and Kyoto. You have a large suitcase for the whole holiday, but only need a smaller bag for this part. Sign up for Silk Crane and use the supplied instructions to send it from your Marunouchi hotel front desk. Already checked out and walking through Yaesu? Send from a convenience store instead. Keep the belongings you need during shipping and arrange the later delivery date in advance.

Now there is room for a garden walk, a small inn and another train journey without the large case. Have the stored luggage delivered to your final Tokyo hotel—even if it is on a different side of the city—so packing for home does not require a return to Tokyo Station.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day

Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

Five Tokyo Station luggage storage options: which fits your trip?

  • 1. Silk Crane: for luggage that can skip part of your trip, with delivery later.
  • 2. Station coin lockers: for a bag you will collect yourself after sightseeing.
  • 3. Yaesu South baggage counter: for counter service outside the gates on the Yaesu side.
  • 4. BAGGAGE STORAGE +: for storage inside the gates at B1 GRANSTA.
  • 5. Marunouchi North cloak service: for counter service on the palace-facing side.

For station facilities, floor and gate access are more useful than a distance measured from the middle of the station. The four local choices below are in Tokyo Station; allow time to reach them from your own platform. All opening times are Japan time.

1. Silk Crane: send the suitcase, then travel without it

Best fit: several stops around Japan, time outside Japan, or belongings kept between return visits. You send the suitcase into storage and arrange delivery when you need it again. There is no Silk Crane walk-in counter at Tokyo Station.

The convenient starting point may already be your hotel front desk. Or use a convenience store while you are out exploring: you do not have to drag the suitcase to a storage warehouse, then retrace the journey to collect it.

Cost: choose a monthly or annual plan on the storage booking page; shipping is charged separately. Compare the whole itinerary, including both shipping journeys, with daily local storage. This is planned storage and later delivery, not same-day holding or immediate retrieval.

Before sending, sign up and follow the supplied address and shipping instructions. Keep passports, medicine and the things you need while the suitcase is in transit. The waybill guide for your Tokyo shipment explains the form.

2. Station coin lockers: leave a bag and collect it after your outing

Best fit: a few hours around Marunouchi, Nihonbashi or the palace, followed by collection at the same station. Choose an outside-gate locker if your walk starts outside; an inside-gate locker makes more sense when your ticket and onward route suit it.

Two places to look are the North Free Passage outside Marunouchi North Gate and B1 GRANSTA inside the gates. Locker sizes differ by bank, so a large suitcase may require a different location.

Price guide: JR East lists SS ¥300, S ¥500, M ¥700–800 and L ¥900–1,000. Some multifunction lockers have peak-period surcharges. Check the actual locker for the price, fee rollover and maximum storage period before paying.

Use the JR East locker guide and Tokyo Station maps and locker availability links. Save the locker number and a photo of its surrounding signs; collection still means returning to that locker.

3. Yaesu South baggage counter: outside-gate counter service

Where: Yaesu South, outside the ticket gates. No street journey from the station is needed. Hours: 9:30–20:00 daily.

Best fit: dropping off a bag on the Yaesu side before shopping or sightseeing, with a planned return to this counter.

JR East Logistics lists per-item, per-day charges of ¥500 up to 100 cm, ¥1,000 up to 200 cm, and ¥2,000 above 200 cm, using combined height, width and depth. Those same bands apply to BAGGAGE STORAGE + below.

Check the operator’s baggage-storage details and access map. The longer hours advertised for a parcel service at Yaesu South are not the baggage-storage hours.

4. BAGGAGE STORAGE +: B1 storage inside the gates

Where: B1, inside GRANSTA Underground North Gate. Hours: 9:30–20:00 daily. The daily size-based prices are listed above.

Best fit: a route that already takes you through the paid station area. Work out ticket-gate access for collection as well as drop-off; it is less convenient if both parts of your day are outside the station.

The operator-linked reservation page provides booking details. Use the JR East Logistics access map to distinguish this counter from the separate GRANSTA cloak service.

5. Marunouchi North cloak service: the palace-facing side

Where: 1F, outside Marunouchi North Gate, at the JR EAST Travel Service Center. It is within the station building, so there is no street walk to add.

Best fit: leaving a bag before a Marunouchi walk, then returning to this side of Tokyo Station.

The current Travel Service Center booking page lists 8:30–19:30 daily and overnight storage up to 30 days. Check the quote for your bag and dates when booking.

An older GRANSTA notice gives different hours and says same-day only. For an overnight stay, confirm the collection deadline and overnight arrangement with the counter before relying on it. Phone: 03-5221-8123.

See the 1F counter map for its position.

Overnight, a week away, or just until this evening?

JR East Logistics advertises up to 30 days at its Tokyo Station facilities; its example for one medium bag over seven days is ¥7,000. Collect during the selected counter’s opening hours. A locker or another operator’s counter can have different limits.

If you will return to the same station, daily holding may suit the journey. If the suitcase should go to a different hotel after several stops, compare Silk Crane’s storage plan plus shipping with that return-and-collect route. The long-term Tokyo luggage storage guide and Tokyo storage comparison cover longer itineraries.

Where can you send luggage to Silk Crane near Tokyo Station?

Your hotel front desk may save you a walk altogether. If you are already out with a suitcase, these named branches are listed by Yamato as accepting shipments. They are sending points, not Silk Crane storage branches or collection counters.

Walking estimates below were checked in Google Maps on October 5, 2026, from the named station exit—not a platform. Add time for station corridors, crossings, luggage and the shipping handoff. These are useful checked routes, not a claim that each branch is the closest possible choice.

The convenience stores listed here do not accept Size 180 or 200 parcels. For a larger suitcase or counter help, check the Yamato office before making the longer walk. A store being open 24 hours does not mean a carrier collection happens immediately; ask about the day’s dispatch cutoff.

Already planning to pass another branch? Use Yamato’s official branch finder and check that it accepts customer shipments. Some offices with Tokyo Station or Marunouchi in their names handle internal logistics rather than public drop-offs.

Collect the bag before choosing the departure gates

Work backwards from the train you will take. Marunouchi is the palace-facing side; Yaesu is the other side of the station. Shinkansen transfer gates add another distinction. Include the walk from the actual storage point to your departure gates in the time you allow.

For the city walk between trains, use the separate Marunouchi and Imperial Palace guide. It keeps the sightseeing route and garden calendar separate from this station collection plan.

Continuing by coach? The Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu guide covers the separate bus terminals. For shopping east of the station, use the Nihonbashi visitor guide.

Choose where you want the luggage next

Have the bags delivered to a later hotel, with time to unpack and finish your flight packing. Or arrange delivery to a Yamato airport pickup counter when everything is packed for departure. Share the destination and dates in advance; we confirm the counter for your airport and terminal.

Tokyo Station / Marunouchi luggage storage questions

Is there luggage storage near Tokyo Station without a locker collection trip?

Silk Crane offers planned storage with sending from your hotel near Tokyo Station or a nearby convenience store. Your bags can stay behind while you visit other cities, then be delivered to a later hotel or departure airport. You do not collect them from the station. If you need the bags back in a few hours, keep them in local short-stay storage.

Can I send luggage after I have checked out and started sightseeing?

Yes. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied shipping instructions and send your packed suitcase from a convenience store. Keep what you need during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel. For a bag you need back today, use local holding instead.

Can I store luggage from a Marunouchi or Yaesu hotel before taking the Shinkansen?

Yes. Sign up with Silk Crane, then send the packed luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store using the storage address and instructions provided. Keep your train-day essentials and the belongings you need for the next part of Japan in a smaller bag. Plan shipping and later delivery ahead of the train journey.

Can luggage stay in storage through Kanazawa and Kyoto, then go to another Tokyo hotel?

Yes. Silk Crane can keep your luggage while you make several stops, then deliver it to the later hotel you choose. The receiving hotel does not have to be your original Marunouchi hotel. Arrange the date and destination in advance so you have the bags when you need them.

Should I forward luggage directly from Tokyo Station or use storage?

Use direct forwarding when the next destination is known and you want the luggage there soon. Silk Crane adds storage when the bags should skip several stops or wait between Japan visits. Choose monthly or annual storage around that gap, with shipping charged separately.

What about the separate GRANSTA cloak service?

GRANSTA’s published notice lists its B1 inside-gate cloak service as 8:30–21:00, with same-day collection by 20:30. It gives ¥500 / ¥1,000 / ¥2,000 size bands, with bags under 250 cm in combined dimensions, no longer than 2 m and under 30 kg. It is separate from BAGGAGE STORAGE +.

Check the GRANSTA cloak-service notice and B1 counter map before choosing it.

Choose the journey, not just a place for the bag

Keep the suitcase nearby if you need it tonight. Let it skip the next part of Japan if you do not. With Silk Crane, send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to the stop that suits you.
