Choose storage for your Tokyo trip
A spacious Tokyo morning before the next train
Picture a couple finishing a Tokyo hotel stay before several days in Kanazawa. After signing up and following the sending instructions, they send the larger suitcase from the hotel to Silk Crane, keeping a compact bag for the onward journey and arranging the stored case’s return to their final Tokyo hotel.
With local holding arranged for the overnight bag, they can enjoy Marunouchi’s architecture and a walk beside the palace moat. They choose the garden visit around its opening calendar and return to their saved luggage collection point before the train.
Already checked out and carrying the spare suitcase towards Marunouchi? Imagine making that convenience-store shipment before the walk instead. Once you have signed up and followed the sending instructions, the extra case can leave your day’s itinerary while you keep the belongings needed for the next stops.

Settle today’s luggage before leaving the station area
The Tokyo Station City baggage guide lists the JR EAST Travel Service Center baggage service at the 1F Marunouchi North Gate among its outside-gate facilities. It separately lists holding inside GRANSTA TOKYO on B1. Check the chosen service’s current hours, capacity, charges and collection access before leaving your bag.
For this walking outing, choose the luggage location before crossing towards the palace side. Inside-gate storage brings an access requirement when you return; a bag on the Yaesu side adds a different return route. Our Tokyo Station guide explains the railway details.
Keep the East Gardens, outer grounds and palace tour distinct
Check the Imperial Household Agency’s East Gardens calendar before making the gardens the centre of your day. They normally close on Mondays and Fridays, with holiday exceptions and occasional additional closures. Their seasonal last-entry time is earlier than closing.
A stroll around the palace’s outer grounds is a different outing from entering the East Gardens or joining a reserved palace tour. Choose one that fits your time, then enjoy Marunouchi’s streets and a meal without overfilling the gap before departure. Keep enough time to return to the precise place where today’s bag is waiting.
Send the extra case and arrange its return
Book your storage plan and follow the sending instructions. Send your packed suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. You can use a convenience store after checkout, without returning to the hotel. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you.
Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately. Before sending, confirm that your later hotel can receive the case and plan your luggage delivery dates around Tokyo. The storage and shipping cost guide explains the separate charges.
Questions before you go
Can I count on leaving a suitcase at the palace entrance?
Arrange hotel or station-area holding before the walk. This guide does not establish a general suitcase-holding service at a palace entrance.
Can I send my suitcase from a convenience store before the palace-side walk?
Yes. Sign up with Silk Crane and use the supplied sending instructions, keeping everything you need during shipping. Arrange later delivery before sending the case. If you need the suitcase back after today’s walk, choose local holding and allow time to collect it.
Are the East Gardens open every day?
No. Consult the official calendar for weekly closures, holiday exceptions and seasonal hours before setting out.
Is an East Gardens visit the same as a palace tour?
No. The gardens, the outer grounds and a reserved tour are different visits with separate arrangements.
Can Silk Crane return my case to another Tokyo hotel?
Yes. Arrange later delivery to the hotel that can receive it, allowing shipping time. You do not have to return to the original Marunouchi hotel.
Plan the next part of your trip
Continue with Tokyo Station; Ginza shopping. Explore the Japan luggage-storage guide index when choosing your next stop.
Prefer department stores and the bridge-side streets? Plan a separate Nihonbashi shopping and sightseeing outing. If you are leaving by coach, check the Yaesu bus terminal guide for your boarding area.
