Long-Term Luggage Storage in Tokyo: A Week or Between Trips
Share
Leave the extra suitcase out of your next train journey. With Silk Crane, send luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store in Tokyo, travel with a smaller bag and arrange delivery to a later hotel. Monthly and annual storage are available; shipping is charged separately.
For longer luggage storage, the key question is where you want the bag back. Will you return to a Tokyo counter, or would delivery to the next hotel make the route easier? An overnight stop, a week away and another visit to Japan each call for a different plan.
Choose your luggage storage plan
Leaving luggage in Tokyo overnight
If you need the suitcase early tomorrow, keep it in local holding with a collection time that works for your departure. Ask your hotel first if your stay or return stay makes reception convenient. Confirm the arrangement rather than assuming a hotel will hold luggage after you leave.
Counter rules differ even within Tokyo Station. JR East Logistics lists multi-day storage, while GRANSTA’s cloak-service notice describes same-day holding. A station-wide “luggage storage” sign is not enough to establish an overnight policy. Use the Tokyo Station counter comparison to choose the actual facility.
Before using any locker overnight, read its maximum storage period, charging cutoff and access hours. Keep the receipt or retrieval details, and allow time to find the same locker bank again.
Storing luggage in Tokyo for a week
For collection back in Tokyo, JR East Logistics advertises storage for up to 30 days at its Tokyo Station facilities. Its example for one medium bag held over seven charged days totals ¥7,000. The charge applies per item; another bag or shopping bag can add to the bill.
The operator lists Yaesu South outside the gates and BAGGAGE STORAGE + inside GRANSTA Underground North, both with 9:30–20:00 hours. Confirm your dates and chosen counter before traveling. These terms do not cover every locker or counter in Tokyo.
Returning to the same station?
Local holding can be straightforward when Tokyo Station is already on your return route and you can collect during opening hours. Save the location and include collection time before your next train.
Finishing somewhere else?
Silk Crane can keep the suitcase while you continue through Japan, then arrange delivery to the later hotel you choose. Compare the monthly or annual plan with shipping each way. Do not assume a week of storage is priced as seven daily payments.
One Tokyo night, a week away, a different hotel on return

Picture checking out in Tokyo before a week of smaller inns and train journeys. You have already started the day with your suitcase, so returning to the hotel would add another trip. After signing up for Silk Crane and receiving the instructions, send it from a convenience store. A hotel front desk is equally useful when you are still at your accommodation.
Carry the clothes and essentials you need for the week. Arrange delivery in advance to the hotel where you will finish your trip. If that hotel is on the other side of Tokyo, you can settle in there instead of making a separate journey to retrieve the suitcase from the original station.
Send from your hotel before heading out
Prefer to send before checking out? Imagine leaving the extra suitcase with your hotel front desk for shipping and setting off with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, use the supplied instructions, keep what you need during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.
A hotel-front-desk handoff

A month away or another visit to Japan
For a longer gap, decide what can remain in Japan and what must travel home with you. Keep passports, medicine and anything you may need unexpectedly. Check the storage plan’s billing and renewal terms against your expected return date.
Silk Crane’s monthly and annual plans are useful when the belongings should wait between trips. Arrange the receiving hotel and delivery date before you need them again. You are planning shipping and storage, not reserving a Tokyo locker that you can open whenever you pass by.
Our guide to storing luggage between Japan visits covers that return-visit routine. The Japan storage-duration guide explains the wider plan choices.
Plan the two travel dates that matter
Sending day: sign up, wait for the supplied address and instructions, then send the packed suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Keep the things needed during shipping with you.
Receiving day: choose the hotel and arrange delivery in advance, allowing for transit time and the hotel’s receiving arrangements. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains the practical choices. A hotel delivery gives you time to unpack and reorganize before your flight.
Check shipping estimates alongside storage. If you want the bag at the very next hotel without a storage interval, ask about direct forwarding instead.
Questions about longer storage from Tokyo
Can I leave a suitcase in Tokyo for seven days?
Yes. Selected local counters offer multi-day holding, and Silk Crane can store luggage sent in for later delivery. Compare the selected counter’s complete charge with the storage plan and shipping. Choose according to where you want the bag back.
Can I collect luggage late at night?
Only if your chosen facility allows collection then. JR East Logistics says bags cannot be returned outside the counter’s opening hours. Silk Crane uses arranged delivery and has no Tokyo walk-in collection counter.
Can the luggage be delivered somewhere other than Tokyo?
Yes. Arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan when you book your journey with Silk Crane. Confirm the destination and date in advance; storage does not provide instant or same-day retrieval.
Which option suits only a few hours?
Use our Tokyo luggage storage guide for hotels, lockers, counters and neighborhood choices. Sending into storage is intended for belongings needed later, with shipping time allowed.
