Yokohama Station luggage storage: send your suitcase from your hotel and continue Japan with a smaller bag.

Yokohama Station Luggage Storage: Lockers, Locations & Alternatives

Head through Yokohama Station with the bag you need for the next part of Japan. With Silk Crane’s monthly and annual storage, send the extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later hotel, without a collection trip back to the station. Shipping is charged separately.

For a bag you need again today, Yokohama Station has several locker areas, including reservable lockers at HAMA B2. Hotel holding may also suit a short visit.

This guide covers Yokohama Station, not Shin-Yokohama, the separate Shinkansen station. For the wider sightseeing trip, explore our Yokohama city luggage guide.

Choose around your next stop

  • Collecting your bag today: choose a locker near the route you will use again, or ask your hotel about holding it.
  • Need it at the next hotel: consider direct luggage forwarding, allowing for transit time.
  • Traveling for weeks without it: compare Silk Crane’s monthly and annual storage. Shipping is charged separately.

Picture a lighter departure from Yokohama

Imagine checking out of your Yokohama hotel before several weeks exploring Japan. Your suitcase holds shopping and clothes you will want later, but your smaller bag has what you need for the next part of the trip. After signing up with Silk Crane, send the packed suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store using your storage instructions, then head to the station with less to carry.

Arrange delivery to a later hotel that can accept the bag, allowing time for shipping. You can continue your route without returning to Yokohama Station to collect it. If you need everything again this evening, a local locker or hotel holding is the simpler fit.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day

Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

Where to look for lockers

Locations and listed prices checked on 25 September 2026. This is a selection of useful options, not every locker in the station. Check the machine or booking page before paying; availability and charges can change.

HAMA B2: an option you can reserve

Find HAMA B2 on the B2 north–south connecting passage, outside the Toyoko/Minatomirai Line ticket gates. The operator lists S, M and L storage charges of ¥500, ¥600 and ¥800, plus a ¥500 reservation fee for a standard booking. Its displayed reserved totals are therefore ¥1,000, ¥1,100 and ¥1,300. Access is from first to last train, not around the clock.

Use the official HAMA B2 locker page to check the location and your date. For online reservations, the operator requires registration and a payment card; its booking FAQ explains the process.

Two Toyoko Line locker areas outside the gates

B3 beside the front gate, near the CIAL entrance: Tokyu lists small, large and extra-large lockers at ¥500, ¥600 and ¥900 per day, respectively. Payment is by transport IC card only; retain the card for collection.

Near the south gate, beside the 7-Eleven: small, medium and large lockers are listed at ¥400, ¥500 and ¥600 per day. These use cash, in ¥100 coins.

Tokyu also describes a B2 area toward the south passage, with small and medium lockers, cashless payment and time-based charging. Do not assume its price is a daily rate. Follow the official Tokyu location and payment guide for directions and the applicable charge. That guide was published in February 2026 using January information.

Arriving on JR or Sotetsu?

Start with your own operator’s map rather than crossing the whole interchange with your suitcase. The JR East Yokohama map and Sotetsu station guide help you identify the gate and floor. Check whether your chosen locker is inside or outside the ticket gates before planning collection.

Nearby alternative: Yokohama Bay Quarter

If your route takes you toward Bay Quarter, its official site lists lockers at West 3F and East 2F, accessible 7am–midnight. Listed prices are ¥300 small, ¥500 medium and ¥600 large. Its large compartment is 84cm high × 34cm wide × 64cm deep—the width is worth checking against your suitcase.

Consult Bay Quarter’s facility information. These are shopping-center lockers near the station, not a Silk Crane counter.

Will a large suitcase fit?

Measure the packed bag including wheels, handles and bulging pockets. Compare all three measurements with the chosen compartment; a “large” label alone does not establish fit. Avoid forcing the door shut, and choose a different option if the bag does not fit comfortably.

Keep your passport, medication and belongings you need during the day with you. Save the locker number, floor, nearest gate and a photo of the surroundings, together with the key, card or collection code.

When lockers are full—or you need overnight storage

JR East also lists a staffed counter in SOUTH COURT, inside the Central South ticket gate. Its published schedule is mainly weekends and public holidays, with acceptance until 17:00 and collection by 20:00 on operating days. Check the current counter information and service calendar for your date before relying on it. Entering from outside the gates requires appropriate station access; this is not an overnight-storage promise.

Check another suitable size or location through the operator’s page. For HAMA B2, online availability is useful for planning; an empty online result does not necessarily mean every locker on site is occupied. Ask your hotel about holding the bag if you are staying nearby.

Before choosing another area, think about where your day ends. Leaving luggage close to Chinatown may suit a Chinatown visit better than returning to the main interchange; the city guide connects the sightseeing areas.

For an overnight stop, check both the permitted duration and the collection window. Multi-Ecube’s booking FAQ allows up to three days including the starting day, with another chargeable day beginning at 2am. A daily charge does not necessarily buy a rolling 24 hours. Other lockers have their own rules.

When the suitcase can skip part of Japan

Silk Crane suits belongings you can send ahead into storage and receive later. Sign up online, pack the suitcase, and send it from your hotel or a convenience store using the instructions you receive. There is no Silk Crane walk-in storage counter at Yokohama Station.

Keep enough with you for shipping and the next part of the trip. Arrange delivery to a later hotel, check that it can receive your bag, and plan ahead using the hotel delivery guide. Monthly and annual storage charges are separate from shipping.

Questions before leaving your bag

Can I reserve a locker at Yokohama Station?

HAMA B2 has reservable Multi-Ecube lockers. Check your date, compartment size and total charge on the operator’s page above before booking.

Do all Yokohama Station lockers take cash?

No. Payment varies by locker area. The examples above include IC-only and cash-only machines, so check before putting your bag inside.

Can I collect my suitcase late at night?

Check the access hours of the specific location. Paying for another storage day does not keep a station or shopping center open.

Should I use Silk Crane for a few hours between trains?

For collection the same day, choose local short-stay storage or ask your hotel. Silk Crane’s monthly and annual storage involves shipping and is intended for a longer gap in your journey.

Will I need to return to Yokohama after storing with Silk Crane?

No. Arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan that can receive your suitcase. Plan the delivery date ahead and keep what you need during shipping with you.
