Ueno luggage storage: send your suitcase from a convenience store and enjoy the park with a small bag.

Ueno Luggage Storage Compared: JR, Keisei and Later Delivery

The right Ueno luggage storage choice starts with where you want the suitcase next.

Silk Crane lets you send it from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, explore with a smaller bag and arrange delivery to a later hotel or departure airport. Choose monthly or annual storage, with shipping charged separately, when the suitcase can skip the next part of Japan.

For a bag you will collect today, compare the local options below. JR Ueno, Tokyo Metro Ueno and Keisei-Ueno are different places to retrieve luggage. That distinction matters more than a map result simply labeled “Ueno.”

A Ueno park walk before the next part of Japan

Ueno luggage storage: send your suitcase from a convenience store and enjoy the park with a small bag.
Send the spare suitcase and enjoy Ueno’s park paths with a small bag.

Imagine checking out near Ueno with a large suitcase, a small travel bag and several stops still ahead. You will not need the extra clothes until your final Tokyo stay. Sign up for Silk Crane and use the supplied instructions to send the suitcase from a convenience store while you are out, keeping what you need during shipping.

You can enjoy a park walk before traveling onward, then arrange delivery to your later Tokyo hotel. If instead the suitcase is needed for a flight that evening, choose local holding and plan collection before the counter closes. The same Ueno afternoon can call for two very different storage choices.

Send before checkout or while you are out

Picture setting aside the suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip. Send it from your hotel front desk before checkout, or from a convenience store while you are out. Sign up for Silk Crane, use the supplied sending instructions and keep your essentials during shipping. Arrange delivery to your later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: storage with delivery to a later stop

Choose it when the suitcase can skip part of your trip. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller travel bag and arrange delivery when you need the stored luggage again. There is no visit to a Silk Crane warehouse and no return journey to collect from a station locker.

Cost: monthly or annual storage, with shipping charged separately. Use the current storage plans and include sending and return-delivery costs in your comparison. Silk Crane is not a walk-in counter at Ueno, and it does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.

Sign up before sending and use the supplied address and instructions. Keep documents, medicine and the belongings you need during shipping with you. Arrange the delivery date and destination ahead of time; the hotel and airport delivery guide explains the choices.

2. JR Ueno lockers: collect where your JR journey continues

Choose them when you will return to JR Ueno. Keep the locker’s floor, nearest gate and number together in a photo. An inside-gate locker also requires you to plan ticket access when collecting.

The official JR Ueno floor maps distinguish the station’s levels. Use the locker symbols for your arrival and departure route; a ground-level street map cannot show the full walk from a platform.

Price and collection: check the chosen bank’s displayed charge, bag dimensions, fee rollover, access hours and maximum stay. There is no single verified rate that we can apply to every JR Ueno locker. For a few hours, a suitable locker can be simpler than arranging a shipment.

3. Keisei-Ueno baggage counter: help with a larger bag

Where: inside Keisei-Ueno Station, 1-60 Ueno-koen. The counter’s current branch page lists 9:00–18:00 daily and says multi-day storage can be arranged.

The English storage terms list ¥600 up to 53 cm high, ¥1,000 up to 63 cm, ¥1,500 up to 70 cm, and ¥2,000 for oversized items such as sports equipment. Ask how your bag is classified and what your dates will cost; extra charges apply if you miss collection during business hours.

Route from the Hirokoji-side forecourt to Keisei-Ueno: Google estimates 250 m / 3 minutes to the station map pin. Add the time to enter the station and reach the counter. This is not a platform-to-counter transfer time.

4. Tokyo Metro lockers: choose your subway collection route

Choose them when your return route uses Metro Ueno. The official Metro locker page links separately to Ginza Line and Hibiya Line facilities. Keep that line name with your locker photo.

Price and collection: use the rate and deadline on the selected locker, rather than applying a JR or Keisei price. Check whether collection requires passing a ticket gate. If you leave by Skyliner, allow for collecting at Metro Ueno and then reaching the separate Keisei station.

Two sending points near Ueno

Your hotel front desk may save a walk altogether. Already out with your suitcase? Yamato lists these convenience stores as accepting shipments. Both list 24-hour opening, but carrier collection has its own cutoff. These are sending points, not Silk Crane storage branches.

Google walking estimates checked October 5, 2026, from the mapped forecourt point near JR Ueno’s Hirokoji Exit. They exclude platform walking, queues and the shipping handoff. Allow extra time with luggage; these are checked routes, not a claim that these are the closest stores.

Questions before choosing

Should I store at JR Ueno before taking the Skyliner?

Only if the collection route works for your day. You must retrieve the bag from JR Ueno and then reach Keisei-Ueno. The Keisei counter puts collection in the airport-rail station, but its published closing time is 18:00.

Can the suitcase stay behind while I leave Japan and return?

Silk Crane’s monthly and annual storage can cover a gap between visits, with later delivery arranged in advance and shipping charged separately. Keep passports and everything needed outside Japan with you.

Is direct forwarding another choice?

Yes. If you already know the next hotel and want the suitcase there soon, direct forwarding may suit you. Storage with Silk Crane is useful when the bag should wait while you make several stops or travel elsewhere.

Keep the next part of Japan simple

For luggage that can wait, choose Silk Crane storage and arrange delivery to a later stop. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store; shipping is charged separately.

Choose monthly or annual storage
