Nagano Station Luggage Storage and Lockers: Plan a Lighter Stop
Share
Make your Nagano Station connection easier before you reach the platforms. Silk Crane lets you send the extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store into monthly or annual storage and arrange delivery for a later stop, with shipping charged separately. Travel through the station with the bag you actually need.
A temple visit between trains
Imagine stopping in Nagano during a longer Japan journey. You sign up for Silk Crane and send the spare suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store using the supplied instructions. Keep a smaller overnight bag with documents, medicine and the clothing needed through shipping.
If that bag also needs to come off your shoulders for a temple visit, use a suitable station locker and return for it before your train. The larger case can be delivered to a later hotel after you arrange the return shipment.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day
Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

Does Nagano Station have luggage lockers?
JR East’s Nagano Station facilities page lists coin lockers. Use the official station map and signs when you arrive, then check whether an available compartment fits your packed bag.
Before paying, check the locker’s access hours, payment method and rules for storage extending beyond the day. Save the receipt or access information and take a photo of the nearby sign. A station having lockers does not guarantee a vacant suitcase-sized space.
Zenkoji Exit, east side and Nagano Dentetsu
Choose storage around the route you will retrace. The temple’s access guide directs visitors to buses from the Zenkoji Exit. The east side is a different arrival and departure point, so note the exit as well as the locker number.
Nagano Dentetsu’s Nagano Station is underground and separate from the JR gates. A connection between the two is not a reason to leave retrieval until the last minute. Check the operator and platform on your ticket before choosing your route back.
From the Shinkansen to the Hakuba bus
For Hakuba, follow signs to the East Exit. Alpico’s Nagano–Hakuba route page lists stop 26 at Nagano Station. The station boarding guide notes that some winter departures use stop 25. Follow the bay shown for your service. Use the timetable for your actual season and check reservation requirements.
Read the destination on the booking, too. Some services continue directly to Happo without stopping at JR Hakuba Station. The Hakuba Station guide and Happo Bus Terminal guide cover those separate places.
Collect any Nagano locker bag before heading to the bus. Allow for the walk from the locker, lifts and the boarding queue, especially with winter equipment. If you have sent the spare suitcase into storage before this journey, keep the mountain clothing and essentials you need for the Hakuba stay.
Collect bags before the connection becomes tight
Put bag collection into the itinerary before lunch, a final shop or the temple walk runs long. Collect your bag before entering gates if the locker you chose is outside them, then allow time for lifts and the correct platform.
For a visit focused on the temple, our Zenkoji luggage guide explains the sightseeing side. The Nagano city guide helps when the city is more than a short stop.
Send the spare suitcase and plan its return
Book storage, follow the supplied sending instructions and send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Keep medicine, documents and the belongings you need during shipping with you. Confirm that your later hotel can receive the case, then plan your storage and delivery dates.
Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately; the storage and shipping cost guide explains the distinction. Arrange delivery in advance rather than expecting immediate collection at the station or attraction.
Questions before you go
Are coin lockers available at Nagano Station?
Yes. JR East lists them. Check the official map and the space available when you arrive; locker sizes and availability matter for suitcases.
Is Nagano Dentetsu inside the JR gates?
It is a separate underground railway station. Follow the transfer signs and allow time to collect bags before changing operators.
Can Silk Crane hold a bag for collection at the station tonight?
Silk Crane is shipped storage with later delivery, not a same-day station collection service. A local locker is more suited to a bag you need again tonight.
What if my suitcase does not fit a locker?
Ask station information about current alternatives or your hotel about holding the bag. For the extra case you do not need during this leg, plan Silk Crane storage before traveling.
