Nagano luggage storage: send spare luggage from the hotel and enjoy soba near the temple streets.

5 Nagano Station Luggage Storage Options Compared

After the mountain part of your trip, enjoy Nagano’s food and temple streets with less to carry. With Silk Crane, send spare luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later stop.

Monthly and annual storage are available, with shipping charged separately. For belongings needed again today, compare JR lockers, Nagano Dentetsu’s counter, MIDORI lockers and Travel HUB. Start with the railway and exit you will use to collect: the underground Nagaden station is separate from the JR platforms.

From mountain clothes to a relaxed soba lunch

Nagano luggage storage: send spare luggage from the hotel and enjoy soba near the temple streets.
Send spare luggage and enjoy Nagano’s soba and temple streets with a smaller bag.

Imagine finishing a mountain stay before several days enjoying Nagano and Tokyo. The large suitcase holds spare warm clothes and belongings you will want for the next journey, but not for the coming city visits.

Sign up for Silk Crane and send the case from your hotel front desk using the supplied instructions. Keep enough for the shipping period in your smaller bag. Enjoy a soba lunch and a walk toward Zenkoji, then continue to Tokyo without carrying the extra case between hotels. Arrange its return to a later hotel ahead of time. A convenience store can also be your sending point.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day

Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery

Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.

Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Nagano Station and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.

Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.

2. JR Nagano lockers: keep the case near the railway

JR East’s Nagano Station guide confirms coin lockers and links station facilities. Read the fee and dimensions at the chosen bank; different sizes and locations need not have identical terms.

Save the bank and exit before leaving. A trip toward Zenkoji uses a different station approach from an east-side bus departure. Include time for collection, lifts and the walk to the platform when you have a reserved train.

3. Nagano Dentetsu: a station-staff handoff

The Nagano Dentetsu station guide lists temporary luggage holding at ¥500 per item per day, subject to space. Its staffed counter hours are 07:00–21:00; agree on the storage pickup deadline with staff.

The Nagaden station is underground, with connections toward MIDORI and Tokyu. It is not the JR ticket counter. Use the operator’s station diagram for the final approach. This can suit a visit ending near the underground station, especially when you prefer a person-to-person handoff.

4. MIDORI lockers: check the stair-landing location

MIDORI Nagano’s service directory lists lockers on the stair landing between 1F and B1, with daily charges of ¥400, ¥500 and ¥700.

That location matters with a heavy suitcase or limited mobility: do not assume a lift stops at the landing. Check the approach, current bank access hours and compartment size before paying. This can suit station shopping, provided collection fits the building access for the day.

5. Travel HUB: a nearby counter for large belongings

Travel HUB Nagano’s green-season baggage guide lists ¥500/day for items under 45 cm on the longest side and ¥800/day for larger items, including suitcases. Multi-day storage is available, and the page says advance booking is unnecessary.

Walk to Travel HUB Nagano City — about 2 minutes / 130 m from Nagano Station’s map reference point. Find it on 2F, 1358 Suehirocho. The green-season page gives 09:30–17:00; check the operating dates and winter schedule for your visit. Ask about access with a heavy bag and confirm the final collection time before leaving it.

A nearby place to send your suitcase

Your hotel front desk may save a walk altogether. Already out with the case? Yamato’s directory lists this nearby branch as accepting shipments. It is a sending point, not a Silk Crane storage branch.

Yamato store listing

This east-side branch lists 24-hour opening and Yamato shipment service. If you are staying on the Zenkoji side, your hotel front desk may save crossing the station with the suitcase. Convenience-store shipment listings exclude Size 180 and 200 parcels. Confirm the dispatch cutoff; 24-hour opening does not mean every bag leaves that day.

Walking estimates were checked October 5, 2026, from the map starting point named beside each link. Allow extra time for platforms, indoor navigation, stairs, queues and the handoff. These are useful examples, not a claim that they are the nearest stores.

Questions before choosing

Which Nagano service is best for ski belongings?

Travel HUB publishes large-item storage, including ski equipment, with seasonal hours to check. For storage through later travel or between visits, ask Silk Crane about your item and its shipping arrangement before sending. Keep the equipment you still need with you.

Can Silk Crane return my suitcase to a Tokyo hotel?

Arrange delivery within Japan to a hotel that agrees to receive it, with sufficient lead time. Plan the date before relying on the belongings, and keep essentials with you during shipping.
