Change trains at Shin-Aomori with less luggage to move between levels.
With Silk Crane, send the spare suitcase from your hotel into monthly or annual storage and arrange delivery when you need it again. Keep the belongings for your Shin-Aomori connection in a smaller bag, leaving shopping or later-trip clothing out of the day’s journey. Shipping is charged separately. Choose your storage plan.
A northern rail journey without the second case
Picture heading north after several days in Tokyo. You need a small set of clothes for this part of the trip, but the second case is mostly shopping. Arrange shipment from the hotel into Silk Crane storage before leaving, with delivery planned for your later stay.
At Shin-Aomori, the connection becomes a matter of finding the next platform with a compact backpack. The spare suitcase stays out of the transfer, leaving your hands freer for the ticket gates and stairs.

Use the current map before choosing a locker
JR East’s Shin-Aomori facilities page lists lockers. The official Shin-Aomori station map shows the station across several levels; use it with the signs on arrival to locate luggage facilities and your onward route.
Check the compartment’s fit, payment method, collection access and charging period at the bank itself. Save the exact location as well as the locker number. Do not rely on old price lists or a photograph of a locker that may have changed since a previous visit.
Choose between Shin-Aomori and the city center
If you are continuing straight through the interchange, holding at Shin-Aomori may fit the journey. If the day revolves around the bayfront or a city-center hotel, compare it with Aomori Station holding before deciding. The stations are not interchangeable collection points.
Our Aomori city guide and waterfront story help connect the stop with the rest of the day. A suitcase left at Shin-Aomori means returning there even if dinner finishes in the city.
Keep collection outside the train connection
When reserving the next journey, leave room for the practical tasks: return to the locker, open it, reorganize anything you need and find the correct departure level. A published train-transfer estimate is not a promise that there is time to collect luggage too.
If you are only passing through and need the case at tonight’s hotel, carrying it onward may be simpler than paying for a locker during a brief connection. Silk Crane is useful for belongings you can send ahead into storage and have delivered later, with the shipping interval planned into the trip.
Send the spare suitcase and plan its return
Book storage, follow the sending instructions and ask your hotel front desk to help arrange the shipment. Keep medicine, documents and the belongings you need during shipping with you. Confirm that your later hotel can receive the case, then plan your storage and delivery dates.
Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately; the storage and shipping cost guide explains the distinction. Arrange delivery in advance rather than expecting immediate collection at the station or attraction.
Questions before you go
Does Shin-Aomori have coin lockers?
JR East lists them among the station facilities. Space and bag fit depend on the compartments available when you arrive.
Can I collect a bag left at Aomori Station here?
No. Collect locally stored luggage from the place where you left it, then allow time for any journey between the two stations.
Can the tourist information desk hold my suitcase?
Ask the desk directly about current arrangements. A tourist information service or rail ticket counter does not automatically provide baggage holding.
Can Silk Crane deliver the case to my later hotel?
Arrange delivery ahead and confirm the hotel can receive it. Keep the belongings needed during storage and shipping with you; shipping is charged separately.
