Okayama Station luggage storage: hand over the spare suitcase at your hotel and continue the rail journey with a small bag.

Okayama Station Luggage Storage and Lockers: Plan a Lighter Connection

Move through Okayama with a smaller bag and more freedom between trains. With Silk Crane, send the spare suitcase from your hotel into monthly or annual storage and arrange delivery to a later stop. Keep the belongings you need for the coming days; let the extra case skip the platform changes and sightseeing detours. Shipping is charged separately.

One less case through the connection

Picture traveling west after a stay in Kyoto, then crossing into Shikoku after Okayama. Shopping and clothes for later in Japan fill a second case. Send it from your hotel to Silk Crane before the rail journey, keeping the next few days’ belongings in a compact bag.

With return delivery arranged for a later stop, you can move through Okayama with less to manage. A garden visit or lunch still needs sensible train planning, but the spare suitcase no longer dictates the station route.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day

Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

For today’s bag, choose a locker on your return route

The locker operator’s Okayama listing gives different access windows for each bank. Three useful examples are the second-floor Shinkansen-gate bank, open 24 hours and accepting transport IC cards only; the first-floor west-exit bank C, open 24 hours with cash or transport IC payment; and the B1 bank D near the underground gates, open 05:00–23:50.

JR West’s station facilities page and the current station map help you place the bank on your route. Prices and available sizes differ; read the chosen machine before paying. Save its location and opening method, and allow for any ticket-gate access on collection.

Separate counter collection from hotel delivery

Nekonote Station is beside the second-floor Shinkansen gates. Temporary holding operates 08:00–20:00. The listed tiers are ¥600 for a bag within 120 cm in combined dimensions and 15 kg, or ¥800 within 160 cm and 25 kg.

Its separate same-day service accepts bags 08:00–13:30 for listed Okayama and Kurashiki accommodation, with delivery around 17:00 and a listed charge of ¥1,500. Check that your hotel appears on the current destination list. Choose counter holding if you will collect the bag; choose hotel delivery only after agreeing where it will go. These local services are separate from Silk Crane storage for belongings you want delivered later in your trip.

Collect before the final boarding steps

A locker near your arrival route may be farther from your next departure. Build retrieval into the itinerary before tickets, snacks and the platform search. Check live departure information on the day rather than relying on a remembered platform number.

For sightseeing, the Okayama city guide and Korakuen and castle guide help you choose a comfortable visit. If you continue to Kurashiki, use its separate station guide before deciding where the bag should stay.

Send the spare suitcase and plan its return

Book storage, follow the sending instructions and ask your hotel front desk to help arrange the shipment. Keep medicine, documents and the belongings you need during shipping with you. Confirm that your later hotel can receive the case, then plan your storage and delivery dates.

Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately; the storage and shipping cost guide explains the distinction. Arrange delivery in advance rather than expecting immediate collection at the station or attraction.

Questions before you go

Are there coin lockers at Okayama Station?

Yes. Locations have different access and payment rules. The second-floor Shinkansen-gate bank is listed as open 24 hours and accepts transport IC cards only; check space and price at the machine.

Is there an alternative if my suitcase will not fit?

Nekonote Station lists temporary holding with size and weight conditions. Confirm those conditions and the collection deadline with the counter.

Can I collect locally stored luggage after sightseeing?

Plan to return during the facility’s access hours and before your departure. Leave time to locate the locker or counter and reach the correct platform.

How is Silk Crane different from a station locker?

You ship belongings to Silk Crane for monthly or annual storage and arrange later delivery. A station locker is a local collection option for a bag needed again soon.
