Okayama luggage storage: send the spare suitcase from a convenience store and explore Kurashiki’s canal with small bags.

5 Okayama Station Luggage Storage Options Compared

Make your Okayama stop part of a lighter journey through Japan. With Silk Crane, send the spare suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later hotel.

Choose monthly or annual storage; shipping is charged separately. If you need your bag back after today’s Kurashiki visit or shopping, compare the station’s Nekonote counter, lockers, AEON Mall and guest hotel holding. A free shopping locker and a staffed suitcase counter solve different needs.

A canal walk before the next part of Japan

Send the spare suitcase and explore Kurashiki’s canal with small bags.

Imagine two friends pausing in Okayama before several nights in Shikoku. They would like to spend an afternoon beside Kurashiki’s canal, but one suitcase is mostly shopping and spare clothing for the final leg of their holiday.

They sign up for Silk Crane, pack what they will not need and follow the supplied sending instructions at a convenience store. Their smaller bags hold everything needed during shipping. After Kurashiki, they can continue their route without collecting that spare case at Okayama. They arrange delivery to the hotel where they will spend the final nights in Japan.

If the only goal is a few hours in Kurashiki and the whole suitcase is needed that evening, local holding at Okayama Station may be simpler.

Send before checkout or while you are out

Picture setting aside the suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip. Send it from your hotel front desk before checkout, or from a convenience store while you are out. Sign up for Silk Crane, use the supplied sending instructions and keep your essentials during shipping. Arrange delivery to your later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery

Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.

Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Okayama Station and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.

Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.

2. Nekonote Station: check size and weight together

The Okayama tourism guide to Nekonote Station places this counter on station 2F beside the Shinkansen gates, open 08:00–20:00. Published holding bands are ¥600 for up to 120 cm combined dimensions and 15 kg, or ¥800 for up to 160 cm and 25 kg.

Measure length, width and height together and check the weight. Ask before arriving with an item outside those bands. This is a useful counter when you want to leave the case at Okayama and collect it after your outing. Its separate hotel-delivery service has different charges and deadlines.

3. Station lockers: prices and access change by bank

The locker operator’s Okayama map, sizes and fees lists many IC-card banks at ¥500 small, ¥700 medium and ¥900 large. At the Shinkansen-gate bank, medium and large compartments instead cost ¥800 and ¥1,000. Read the selected bank’s display; other types have different charges.

The Shinkansen-gate bank on 2F has 24-hour access and accepts transport IC cards only. West Exit bank C also has 24-hour access, while basement bank D by the underground gates is listed 05:00–23:50. Save your bank letter, receipt and access details before leaving for Kurashiki.

4. AEON Mall Okayama: free lockers for a shopping stop

The mall’s locker conditions allow free same-day use from 10:00 to 21:30. This can suit shopping bags and other belongings that fit an available compartment. Do not assume a large suitcase will fit or that a locker will be vacant.

Walking directions from Okayama Station to AEON Mall — about 3 minutes / 230 m from Okayama Station’s map point. The mall is at 1-2-1 Shimoishii. Use its floor guide or ask information staff for the locker locations. Collection is at the mall, not the station, and overnight storage is outside the published arrangement.

5. Hotel Granvia Okayama: ask before adding a separate storage stop

Hotel Granvia Okayama’s accommodation information includes holding before check-in and after checkout. For guests staying there, this may save an extra trip to a locker bank.

The hotel is connected to the station. Follow its station access guide and ask staff about the collection time, available space and your particular belongings. The guest service should not be treated as storage for non-guests or as an open-ended arrangement between trips.

A shipping counter already inside Okayama Station

Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store when that fits your route. Already at Okayama Station? Nekonote Station’s service listing also confirms Yamato TA-Q-BIN shipping. Find it on 2F beside the Shinkansen gates, using the JR station floor map for orientation.

Sign up for Silk Crane before sending and use the supplied address and instructions. Ask the counter to confirm acceptance, shipping charge and dispatch timing for your bag. Paying for local holding does not automatically send the suitcase into Silk Crane storage; request the shipping service separately.

Questions before choosing

Are all Okayama Station lockers the same price?

No. Charges differ by bank and compartment type. The Shinkansen-gate IC bank has higher medium and large charges than the common IC bands. Check the actual locker display and daily charging rules.

Should I store luggage in Okayama before visiting Shikoku?

Local holding fits a trip that returns to Okayama within the service’s permitted period. If you are continuing elsewhere, Silk Crane can store the spare belongings and arrange later delivery in Japan, with shipping time built into the plan.
