Kamakura Luggage Storage: Enjoy the Temple Town with Less
Share
Take the smaller bag to Kamakura and leave room in the day for temple lanes, shops and a relaxed lunch. With Silk Crane, send extra luggage from your hotel into storage and arrange delivery when you need it later in Japan.
Start with where you will finish
For a suitcase you need again today, the JR East Kamakura locker guide describes lockers inside and outside the gates. The Kamakura City Tourist Association’s holding service is another option, with collection by 17:00.
A hotel stay may make your own reception desk the most convenient place to ask about short holding. For a day trip, choose a point that fits the final train, rather than the first available place you pass. Our Kamakura Station guide explains the station choices.
A temple-town break between longer stays
Picture leaving a Tokyo hotel after a week of shopping. You have several coastal and temple-town stops ahead, but the purchases and spare outfits can wait. You arrange shipment of the extra suitcase to Silk Crane and pack the essentials in a smaller bag.
In Kamakura, you can wander a quiet lane, choose a lunch spot and continue to the next part of the trip without retrieving that spare case from the morning’s arrival station. Arrange its delivery to a later hotel before you need it again.

Give the spare suitcase a different itinerary
Silk Crane is useful when some belongings can skip the Kamakura stage altogether. The case stays in storage while you move between places, then travels to the hotel where you want it next. A local locker suits a different need: something you must collect during today’s visit.
Choose a Silk Crane storage plan. Send the spare case from your hotel, keep the things you need for this part of Japan and arrange delivery to a later stop. Monthly and annual storage plans are available; shipping is charged separately.
Choose one part of Kamakura, or a through journey
For the shops and shrine approach, use the Komachi Street and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu guide. For the Great Buddha and Hasedera, the Hase temple-area guide focuses on the visit, while the Hase Station guide covers the rail arrival.
If you continue along the Enoden to Enoshima and leave by another railway, a case left in Kamakura still needs collecting. Decide whether that return is part of the day before storing it. Sending belongings you will not use to Silk Crane can keep the longer journey moving in one direction.
Build the collection deadline into the outing before adding another temple or beach stop. Keep the storage receipt or locker key with you, and record the collection location. A useful plan is one you can explain in a sentence: where the bag is, when you return and which train you take afterwards.
Send the spare suitcase and plan its return
Book storage, follow the sending instructions and ask your hotel front desk to help arrange the shipment. Keep medicine, documents and the belongings you need during shipping with you. Confirm that your later hotel can receive the case, then plan your storage and delivery dates.
Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately; the storage and shipping cost guide explains the distinction. Arrange delivery in advance rather than expecting immediate collection at the station or attraction.
Questions before you go
Where can I store luggage in Kamakura?
The station has lockers, and the tourist association offers temporary holding in its west-side office. Your hotel may also agree to short holding around your stay.
Can I leave a suitcase while visiting the Great Buddha?
You can use a suitable holding point before travelling to Hase, or check Hase Station’s lockers. Plan where you will collect it after the temple visit.
Should I leave my bag in Kamakura before going to Enoshima?
That works if returning to Kamakura fits your itinerary. If you plan to leave the area through Fujisawa, choose a collection arrangement that does not add an unwanted return journey.
Does Silk Crane have a Kamakura walk-in counter?
Silk Crane receives belongings shipped into storage and arranges later delivery. Send from your hotel before the lighter stage of your trip; it is separate from local same-day holding.
