A Tokyo connection before an afternoon of browsing
Imagine you have checked out and are crossing Tokyo before a few nights in Kyoto. Your packed spare suitcase holds purchases and clothes you will not need there. You sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied instructions and send it from a convenience store, keeping medicine, documents and enough clothing for the trip and shipping time.
You arrange delivery to your later Tokyo hotel, then head through Akihabara with your smaller bag. There is room for an electronics-shop visit before the train. If you leave that smaller bag in a local locker, choose a bank you can return to on your departure route.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day
Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

Keep the spare suitcase for a later part of Japan
Choose your Silk Crane storage plan and send the extra case from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Keep the clothing and essentials you need during the next stage and shipping time, then arrange delivery to a later hotel.
Monthly and annual storage lets belongings wait between uses, with shipping charged separately. For a bag needed again today, choose local holding whose collection arrangements fit the outing.
Start with the railway you arrive on
JR East lists coin lockers in its Akihabara station facilities. Use the JR Akihabara station maps for the railway area you arrive in.
For the Hibiya Line, Metro Commerce’s locker directory lists Akihabara lockers. The Akihabara Metro locker map marks banks A and B near Exit 3 and bank C near Exit 5. These are Metro locations, separate from JR’s station areas. The Tokyo Metro facilities guide helps with other station services.
Choose a compartment that holds the whole case, including wheels and handles. Read that bank’s price, payment method and retrieval instructions before closing it. Availability changes during the day, so keep a hotel holding arrangement in mind if no suitable space is free.
Keep JR, Hibiya Line and Tsukuba Express distinct
Akihabara’s station name covers several railway areas. The Tsukuba Express station guide provides its own map. Do not use a JR exit name as the only reminder of a bag left in a different operator’s area.
Photograph the bank and its nearest gate or exit, and retain the receipt or payment card used for collection. Check whether your locker is inside a ticketed area and how you will reach it when returning on a different railway.
Leave time between the shop visit and the train
Choose your departure railway before storing the bag. A route through Electric Town may take you away from the entrance you used on arrival; allow time for that walk back as well as the platform journey.
If the extra case will stay unused during your onward stops, you can send it to Silk Crane from your hotel front desk or a convenience store before continuing. You can plan a connection around the places you want to see, while arranging delivery for the stay where you need the contents again.
Send the spare suitcase and plan its return
Sign up for storage, follow the supplied sending instructions and send your packed suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Choose the sending point that fits where you are in Tokyo. Keep medicine, documents and the belongings you need during shipping with you. Confirm that your later hotel can receive the case, then plan your storage and delivery dates.
Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately; the storage and shipping cost guide explains the distinction. Arrange delivery in advance rather than expecting immediate collection at the station or attraction.

Questions before you go
Does Akihabara Station have lockers?
JR East and Tokyo Metro list lockers. Check the chosen bank’s space, compartment dimensions and current instructions.
Are the JR and TX areas the same?
They are different railway areas. Save the operator, gate and bank location before leaving a bag.
Can I collect a bag at another Akihabara locker bank?
Return to the bank where you stored it; the shared station name does not make lockers interchangeable.
Can Silk Crane store luggage between Tokyo stays?
Send the spare case from your hotel front desk or a convenience store into monthly or annual storage and arrange later delivery. Shipping is charged separately.
