Tokyo Luggage Storage: Add Your Shopping Until Departure
Share
Tokyo luggage storage can make room for the shopping still to come. With Silk Crane, send your extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, then travel through Japan with a smaller bag. As you shop, send your purchases to the same storage account and arrange delivery of your luggage and shopping to your final hotel before you leave Japan.
Start with the luggage you do not need for the next stops, then add the gifts, clothes and other finds you want to take home. If a shop offers Yamato shipping, ask it to send your purchase straight to your assigned Silk Crane storage address. You can enjoy the shopping when it suits your route, without carrying each new purchase through the rest of the trip. Monthly and annual storage plans are available; shipping is charged separately.
Store your luggage and shopping with Silk Crane
Shop early in Tokyo, enjoy the middle of Japan, repack at the end
A suitcase in storage, Tokyo shopping and a lighter trip to Kyoto

Picture arriving in Tokyo with a suitcase you will want for the flight home, but not for every train and smaller hotel on your route. Kyoto and Kanazawa are still ahead, with time for shopping in between. Send the extra suitcase into storage and keep the clothes and essentials you need in a smaller bag. Now a jacket, gifts or a few carefully chosen homewares can join your stored luggage as you find them.
Open your Silk Crane account first. At a shop offering Yamato shipping, give the shop your assigned storage address and customer details and ask it to send the purchase directly. For things you already have with you, pack them with the extra clothes or spare suitcase you can leave behind, then send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store.
Travel onward with your smaller bag. If another shopping stop brings another parcel, that can join the belongings in storage under your account. Before the final hotel stay, arrange delivery so you have time to unpack, organize the gifts and finish packing for your flight.
Shop early in Tokyo, enjoy the middle of Japan, repack at the end
Imagine finding the kitchenware or clothing you wanted near the beginning of a Tokyo stay. You still have a wider Japan itinerary ahead, so carrying every purchase through the middle of the trip would turn a good shopping day into extra luggage at each stop.
After signing up with Silk Crane, send the spare suitcase into storage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. For new purchases, ask the shop whether it can arrange domestic Yamato shipping using your supplied storage sending details. If it cannot, pack and send from your hotel or a convenience store. Store shipments should be arranged with the shop, not assumed as a service every retailer provides.
Keep track of which purchases are arriving separately. Do not assume that every parcel will automatically be opened and added to a suitcase: discuss any consolidation or packing request and its charges before relying on it. The shopping consolidation guide explains the difference between storing packages and combining their contents.
Then enjoy the middle of the trip with the bag you need. For the final Tokyo stay, choose a hotel that can receive the stored luggage and shopping, and arrange delivery early enough to unpack, check the purchases and repack for the flight. It is easier to decide which case holds what when you have time and space at the hotel.
Our Tokyo at both ends of the trip guide brings that sequence together. Buying early does not have to make the rest of Japan a shopping-parcel carrying exercise.
Store luggage from Tokyo and add purchases as you travel
Leave the spare suitcase out of the middle of the trip
A suitcase you brought for souvenirs does not need to follow you through every smaller hotel. Send it into storage, then arrange to receive it for the final packing days. Keep the clothes, medicine and travel essentials you need during the trip and shipping with you.
Send purchases from more than one shopping day
You do not have to finish all your shopping before sending the first parcel. Use your assigned customer details for each shipment so the purchases can be matched to your storage account. Ask us about the items and storage arrangement as your collection grows.
Keep the route you wanted
A locker helps for bags needed again locally. Silk Crane is useful when you want your luggage and purchases to wait while you continue elsewhere. You can finish at a different hotel or in another Japanese city, with delivery arranged there.
Send Tokyo shopping purchases directly from the shop
Ask at the counter about Yamato shipping
At a shop that offers Yamato shipping, ask the staff to send your paid-for purchase directly to Silk Crane. The store can use its shipping waybill; you supply the storage details assigned to your account. An online seller that offers delivery can also send your purchases directly. Open the storage account first and give the seller your current assigned address, recipient details and suite number. Share the order or tracking details with us so we can identify the shipment when it arrives.
A shop does not have to offer delivery for you to use storage: you can pack and send the purchase yourself from your hotel front desk or a convenience store.
From your hotel front desk
Use the hotel as a comfortable place to sort and pack what you have bought. Once your Silk Crane account is active and you have the sending instructions, arrange shipping from reception. The shopping-to-storage guide explains the practical details.
From a convenience store
Already checked out or staying out for the day? Pack the purchases securely and send from a convenience store using your assigned storage address and instructions. There is no need to return to the hotel just to begin the shipment.

Bring your shopping purchases and stored luggage together
Different shopping days can mean different parcels. Tell us what you would like brought together before the outbound shipment. Silk Crane can combine purchases from several boxes or pack shopping into your stored suitcase when the items fit safely.
For example, you might ask us to place clothing and gifts into the spare suitcase you sent earlier. Fragile homewares may need separate protective packing. We check the arrangement and confirm packing, handling and shipping charges; combining parcels may reduce the number of pieces, but it does not guarantee a lower total cost.
Read the guide to combining purchases with stored luggage when you are ready to plan that shipment.
Receive your luggage and shopping before leaving Japan
Your final hotel is often the most useful place to receive your shopping. You can spread things out, check suitcase space and organize the flight packing without turning the airport into a packing station. Arrange the receiving hotel and delivery date in advance; do not wait until departure day to request the bags.
If everything is already packed for the flight, ask about delivery to the Yamato departure counter for your airport and terminal. Use the hotel and airport delivery guide for timing and collection details. The shipment stays within Japan; this is preparation for your departure, not a promise to ship purchases overseas.
Compare the storage plan with the separate shipping estimates. Ask about packing charges before requesting extra work.
Make space for the Tokyo shopping you enjoy
Choose the outing first, then decide which purchases can wait in storage. Our Ginza shopping guide, Ikebukuro guide and Harajuku and Takeshita Street guide connect the storage idea to individual parts of Tokyo.

Questions about Tokyo luggage and shopping storage
Can the shop fill out a Yamato waybill and send directly to you?
Yes, when the shop offers that shipping service. Open your Silk Crane account first, then give the shop your assigned address, recipient details and suite number for the waybill. Send us the tracking details so we can match the purchase to your account. You do not need to bring that parcel back to the hotel first.
Can I send purchases separately from my suitcase?
Yes. Open your Silk Crane account and use the assigned sending details for each parcel. Purchases can arrive separately while you continue traveling. Let us know what is coming so the parcels can be matched to your account.
Can I keep sending shopping after I leave Tokyo?
Yes. Purchases sent from later stops in Japan can join the belongings in your active storage account. Use the current assigned address and customer details each time, and plan around the date of your final delivery.
Will you put my purchases into my stored suitcase?
We can do that at your request when the items fit safely. Tell us which purchases and suitcase you mean; we confirm the packing arrangement and charges. Not everything should be packed together, especially fragile items.
Can I send electronics with my shopping?
Tell us before sending items with lithium-ion batteries so we can arrange the appropriate handling. Hazardous items are not accepted. The shopping-to-storage guide covers what to check before packing.
Do I have to come back to the same Tokyo hotel?
No. Arrange delivery to the later hotel that fits your route. Give us the destination and date in advance, allowing shipping time and time for you to finish packing.
Store your suitcase. Add your shopping. Travel lighter.
Send your extra suitcase and the purchases you want to keep. Enjoy the rest of the journey, then have them delivered when you are ready to pack for home.
