Niigata Station Luggage Storage and Lockers: Plan a Lighter Trip
Share
Keep your next train journey from Niigata simple by sending the luggage you will not need before you reach the station. Silk Crane’s monthly and annual storage lets you send the spare suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, travel with a smaller bag and arrange delivery to a later stop. You can leave the extra packing in storage while the holiday continues. Shipping is charged separately.
For same-day collection, Niigata Station has coin lockers. The CoCoLo Niigata floor guide lists locker areas in the south building on the third floor, the north-side passage, and the east and west entrance passages. Follow current signs and check the particular bank’s access hours before paying.
A smaller bag for the next stretch by train
Picture checking out of your Niigata hotel with an afternoon train ahead. The spare case contains shopping and clothes for the final part of Japan, while your shoulder bag holds what you need now. Arrange to send that case to Silk Crane from the hotel, following your booking instructions.
Head for the station with the small bag, leave time to find the correct gates and settle into the onward journey. You do not need to retrieve the spare case from a locker before boarding. Arrange its delivery to a later hotel in advance, allowing time for shipping.

After signing up with Silk Crane, follow your supplied sending instructions. If you are already out with the packed suitcase, you can send it from a convenience store before continuing your train journey from Niigata.
Find the right locker area before you walk away
Use the official Niigata Station floor plans together with the CoCoLo facility guide. East and west passages, ticket gates and shopping areas are different reference points. Photograph the locker number and a nearby sign so you can return to the same bank.
Check the price, payment method, storage limit and collection access displayed on the machine. A compartment needs to fit the whole suitcase, including wheels and handles. The published facility list does not show live vacancies, and shopping-floor hours should not be assumed to apply to every locker.
A counter option when you want to leave a bag today
Sagawa’s Niigata Station baggage counter is listed on EAST SIDE, second floor, open 10:00–20:30. The operator quotes ¥700 per item per day for temporary holding, with combined length, width and height up to 200 cm, and links to its reservation service. Confirm current terms and your collection time before booking.
This is a local counter service, separate from Silk Crane’s storage by shipping. Choose it around a return to the station; choose Silk Crane when the spare belongings are for a later stage of Japan and you want to continue without collecting them here.
Do not rely on the old tourism-desk delivery offer
The Niigata tourism bureau’s hands-free sightseeing service page currently says that service is suspended. Older guides may still describe dropping a case at the tourist information center for delivery to a hotel that day.
That notice concerns the bureau’s service. It does not mean every station locker or separate operator counter is closed. Use the current operator page for the option you choose, and keep your train departure and luggage collection time in the same plan.
Connect the station visit with the rest of Niigata
If you have time before departure, our Niigata city luggage guide helps shape the day. For shops and older lanes, use the separate Furumachi luggage guide. Leave enough time to return for any bag held locally.
For Silk Crane storage, confirm receipt with the hotel where you want the suitcase delivered and plan your storage and delivery dates. Compare storage and shipping costs before sending. There is no Silk Crane walk-in counter at Niigata Station or immediate collection of shipped bags.
