New Chitose Airport Shopping Guide: Hokkaido Brands and Gifts
Share
Make your last Hokkaido shopping stop part of the holiday. With Silk Crane, send the extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, travel with less, and arrange delivery before the flight home. Monthly and annual storage is available; shipping is charged separately. At New Chitose Airport, keep final purchases in your flight-day baggage plan.
CTS has much more than a quick souvenir counter. Start with the Domestic Terminal’s second-floor shops for Hokkaido sweets, gifts and travel essentials, then add the connecting corridor or international duty-free if they fit your route.
Where to shop at CTS: a practical shortlist
The shops below are in the Domestic Terminal, 2F, before security. Choose by what you want to bring home rather than trying to visit every store. Follow each shop link for its floor map and current hours.
| Shop | What to look for | How it fits your visit |
|---|---|---|
| ROYCE’ | Nama chocolate, potato-chip chocolate and seasonal selections. | A focused chocolate stop. Ask about the carrying temperature for the product you choose. |
| LeTAO | Otaru’s Double Fromage cheesecake and other LeTAO sweets. | Choose take-home sweets or a treat for the airport; check how long chilled purchases can travel. |
| morimoto | Haskap berry sweets, including the brand’s Haskap Jewelry. | A different Hokkaido flavor to add beside the chocolate gifts. |
| TOKYU department store shop | Rokkatei, ROYCE’ and Ishiya Shiroi Koibito, plus local ramen and other foods. | Compare several well-known brands in one shop. These are stocked brands, not separate boutiques in this listing. |
| MUJI to Go | Travel accessories, stationery and useful everyday goods. | A practical stop for the journey as well as small gifts; check the current range in store. |
| UNIQLO | Casual clothing and everyday layers. | Useful if you want clothing rather than food souvenirs. Do not assume the airport shop carries every online item. |
| Otaru Canalside Glass Factory | Glass ornaments, handmade glass pieces and jewelry. | Ask for protective packing and leave space where fragile pieces will not be crushed. |
Shop hours differ. For example, the airport currently lists ROYCE’ from 08:00–19:30 and UNIQLO from 09:00–19:00; an early flight or late arrival will not give you the same choice as a daytime visit. Use the official airport shop directory for the full range and current opening information.
A final shopping stop with room in the suitcase
Imagine a Hokkaido stay followed by more travel around Japan and a later return flight from CTS. Earlier in the journey, sign up for Silk Crane and send the spare suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store using the supplied instructions. Keep everything you need during shipping. Arrange delivery to your final hotel in advance, so you can unpack and make room before airport day.
At CTS, choose your sweets and gifts, keep cold purchases with you according to the shop’s instructions, and finish packing before your airline’s check-in deadline. Airport-day cheesecake and fresh food belong in the departure plan, not in a parcel sent into ordinary storage.

Add ROYCE’ Chocolate World if you have time
ROYCE’ Chocolate World is on Connecting Path 3F. It combines shopping with a museum and a view of chocolate production, making it a different visit from the ROYCE’ retail shop on Domestic 2F.
The brand lists the shop and museum from 08:00–19:00 and factory viewing from 08:30–17:30, with seasonal changes possible. If watching production matters to you, check the factory hours rather than relying on the later shop closing time.
Leave the sports gear out of the sightseeing days
Bringing golf clubs, skis, a snowboard or a packed bicycle, but sightseeing first? Sign up for Silk Crane and send the gear from the airport Yamato counter using the supplied instructions. Keep the belongings you need during shipping, travel with smaller bags, then arrange delivery to your activity destination in Japan when it is time to use the equipment.
After the activity, you can send the gear or extra luggage into storage from your hotel, enjoy the rest of Japan or an Asia side trip, and arrange delivery to your final hotel in Japan or your Japan departure airport. Plan the delivery in advance. For a bicycle, measure the packed case before booking: cases over 200 cm in combined length, width and height cannot use this shipping service.

Domestic shopping and international duty-free
The Domestic Terminal shops in our shortlist are before domestic security. International duty-free is a separate part of the international departure route on International Terminal 3F, with opening tied to departing flights. Do not plan to visit it while taking a domestic flight.
The official CTS duty-free operator lists cosmetics, Japanese and imported alcohol, confectionery and other gifts. Check the current brands and stock there if you are looking for a particular fragrance or bottle. A shop advertising tax-free purchases before security is not the same thing as the international duty-free departure area.
Follow your airline’s guidance for cabin baggage and liquids, and your destination’s entry rules for food and purchases. Leave the detailed allowance check until you know your route and what you intend to buy.
Build a shopping route around your flight
- Find your departure terminal and deadlines. JR arrives on Domestic Terminal B1F. International passengers still need to reach their own check-in and departure area.
- Choose two or three priority shops. Start on Domestic 2F for the shortlist above; add Chocolate World only if its location and hours fit.
- Plan bag collection and packing. A suitcase stored locally must be retrieved from that location. Shipped luggage has its own named collection counter.
- Buy temperature-sensitive food with the journey in mind. Ask about carrying and storage instructions before paying, and leave space for protective packaging.
- Finish shopping in time to depart. Allow for queues, the terminal walk, repacking, check-in and security; shopping time is the time left after those steps.
Shop comfortably without losing track of the bags
For luggage needed back the same day, the CTS luggage storage and delivery guide, with airport video explains terminal lockers, counters and collection. New Chitose Airport Station is beneath the Domestic Terminal; it is different from Chitose Station in the city.
For belongings you can set aside earlier in the journey, choose Silk Crane’s monthly or annual storage and send ordinary luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Arrange delivery to your final hotel if you want time to reorganize bags, or plan airport collection ahead. Shipping is charged separately. Keep chilled and perishable airport purchases out of this ordinary-storage plan.
Questions before you go
Can I shop at CTS before going through security?
Yes. The Domestic 2F shops in this guide are before security. International duty-free has a separate departure-area route.
Is ROYCE’ Chocolate World the same as the Domestic 2F shop?
No. Chocolate World is on Connecting Path 3F and adds a museum and factory viewing to its shop.
Should I have stored luggage delivered to the airport or my last hotel?
Choose the final hotel when you want time to unpack and reorganize. Airport collection can suit bags already packed for departure, with the shipment and counter arranged in advance.
