Choose storage for your Miyajima trip
Picture a mountain day between city stays
Imagine spending a few days around Hiroshima and Miyajima before traveling onward. The extra suitcase contains clothes and shopping you will next need at a later hotel. Book Silk Crane storage and arrange shipment from your hotel before the island visit.
Carry a daypack with water, a layer and the essentials for your chosen walk. You can enjoy the wooded approach and island views without managing the large case. Arrange its later hotel delivery in advance, keeping everything needed during shipping with you.

Store the suitcase before Momijidani
Ask your island hotel about holding, or choose ferry-terminal lockers before walking uphill. The Miyajima luggage overview explains how the collection point changes between a day trip and an overnight stay.
If the case remains in Miyajimaguchi, collection requires returning to the mainland. Carry what you need for the entire island visit and check your chosen storage deadline before setting out.
The ropeway’s published arrangements for strollers and wheelchairs do not establish a suitcase-holding service. Make a separate luggage plan rather than bringing a large case to the lower station expecting storage.
Check the ropeway and choose a realistic walk
Use the ropeway’s current operating information before setting out. Advance reservations are required on the operator’s designated busy dates; other dates have different arrangements. Weather can interrupt service, so check the last descent for your actual travel day.
Reaching the upper ropeway station is not the same as reaching Mount Misen’s summit. The official walking guide warns of steep slopes and stone steps. Choose a route for your fitness, weather and daylight, and allow time to return before the ropeway closes.
The temple’s current Reikado notices record the May 2026 fire that destroyed Reikado and the mountain reception building. Do not plan around an intact Reikado shown in older guides. Follow current local access instructions; this mountain-site damage is separate from visiting the Daisho-in temple complex below.
Build the day backward from the last descent, then your luggage collection and ferry. A shorter walk through Momijidani can be a better fit when the mountain schedule is tight.
Send the extra case and arrange its return
Book your storage plan and follow the sending instructions. Ask your hotel front desk to help arrange the shipment, or use a convenience store that accepts it or a Yamato service center. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you.
Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately. Before sending, confirm that your later hotel can receive the case and plan your luggage delivery dates around Miyajima. The storage and shipping cost guide explains the separate charges.
Questions before you go
Can I leave a suitcase at the ropeway station?
Arrange hotel or terminal holding before going uphill. Do not rely on the ropeway station to store a suitcase.
Does the ropeway take me directly to the summit?
No. The upper station and summit are different points, with walking beyond the ropeway. Plan for slopes, steps and the return.
Do I always need a ropeway reservation?
The operator requires advance reservations on designated busy dates. Check its current calendar for your travel day.
Can I visit Reikado as shown in older guides?
Check the temple’s latest notices. Reikado and the mountain reception building were destroyed in May 2026, so older descriptions do not establish current access or facilities.
