Matsumoto Station luggage storage: hand over your suitcase at the hotel and travel from the station with a small backpack.

Matsumoto Station Luggage Storage and Lockers: Find Your Way

Make the Matsumoto arrival easier with a bag you can comfortably carry. Silk Crane lets you send extra belongings from your hotel into monthly or annual storage and arrange delivery to a later stop. Keep the essentials for this stretch of Japan and leave the spare suitcase out of the transfer. Shipping is charged separately.

Less to manage between the train and the city

Picture arriving in Matsumoto midway through a longer trip. Before this leg, send the suitcase containing extra clothes and purchases from your hotel to Silk Crane. Carry what you need for the coming days in a compact backpack.

You can leave the station for your hotel or a walk without first finding space for that second case. Arrange delivery to a later hotel ahead of time, with enough time for shipping.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day

Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

Find the correct level and exit side

The official Matsumoto luggage FAQ lists lockers on the third floor around the Welcome Center, waiting room and NewDays, on the second-floor Castle Exit side, and on the first floor by the Castle and Alps exits. Use the JR East station map alongside the signs at the station.

Choose a bank that fits your return route. Read its dimensions, payment instructions and access hours before leaving the bag, then save a photo of the number and nearby signs.

Have a plan for a suitcase that will not fit

The tourism FAQ distinguishes station lockers from luggage-holding facilities. Do not arrive expecting a station counter to accept any oversized bag. Ask your hotel about holding around your stay or check a local service’s current arrangements.

If the suitcase contains belongings you will not need for several destinations, send it to Silk Crane before the rail journey. That removes the repeated search for a large compartment at each stop.

Leave time to come back for the bag

Record the station level as well as the exit side. Collection may involve moving between floors before you continue to the gates and platform. A late train does not by itself guarantee access to every storage location.

Send the spare suitcase and plan its return

Book storage, follow the sending instructions and ask your hotel front desk to help arrange the shipment. Keep medicine, documents and the belongings you need during shipping with you. Confirm that your later hotel can receive the case, then plan your storage and delivery dates.

Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately; the storage and shipping cost guide explains the distinction. Arrange delivery in advance rather than expecting immediate collection at the station or attraction.

Questions before you go

Are there coin lockers at Matsumoto Station?

Yes. The city lists locations on several levels and both Castle and Alps exit sides. Use the official guide and current station signs.

Should I remember only the locker number?

Also record its floor, exit side and nearby landmarks. This makes the return easier if you approach from another direction.

Is there a station counter for bags that do not fit?

Do not assume one. The tourism FAQ lists station lockers but says there is no luggage-holding facility there.

Can Silk Crane hold luggage between cities?

Arrange shipment into storage before this leg and later delivery when needed. Keep essentials with you during shipping.
