5 Asakusa Luggage Storage Options Compared
Share
Enjoy Asakusa’s temple streets before the next part of Japan. With Silk Crane, send your extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery when you need it again.
Monthly and annual storage, with shipping charged separately, lets a suitcase skip the stops where it would get in the way. For a bag needed after today’s Sensoji visit, Asakusa also has local counters and railway lockers. Start with the right railway and collection time.

| Silk Crane | Monthly or annual plan + separate shipping | Later delivery | Onward travel with less luggage |

A morning walk before the Nikko train

Picture a couple checking out in Asakusa, with time for a quiet temple walk before continuing to Nikko and other stops. Their large spare case holds clothing for later in the holiday. After signing up for Silk Crane, they use the supplied instructions to send it from a convenience store rather than taking it through the temple streets.
The belongings needed during shipping stay in their smaller bags. They arrange delivery to their final Tokyo hotel and enjoy the morning without a suitcase collection detour. If a separate bag is needed that evening, it stays with them or in local holding they can collect before the train.
Send before checkout or while you are out
Picture setting aside the suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip. Send it from your hotel front desk before checkout, or from a convenience store while you are out. Sign up for Silk Crane, use the supplied sending instructions and keep your essentials during shipping. Arrange delivery to your later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery
Choose Silk Crane when the extra suitcase can skip part of your trip. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you need the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location and no return journey to collect from the same locker.
Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Asakusa and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.
Sign up before sending and use the supplied address and instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the bag’s return. If the suitcase simply needs to reach your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler arrangement.
2. Sagawa Asakusa: a published daily rate
Sagawa’s Asakusa service center is at 1-7-4 Hanakawado. Luggage storage is listed at ¥800 per item per day, with hours 09:00–19:00 weekdays and 09:00–18:00 weekends and holidays.
Walking route to Sagawa Asakusa — about 300 m / 4 minutes from Kaminarimon Gate. This is a local drop-off and return choice, useful when you prefer a counter to checking locker sizes. Keep the earlier weekend closing time in your plans.
3. Matsuya’s Yamato counter: check the box rate for your bag
Matsuya Asakusa’s service guide lists luggage holding at its 1F Yamato Transport service counter, at 1-4-1 Hanakawado. It publishes ¥500 per box and a same-day window of 10:00–18:00. Ask the counter to confirm the charge and fit for your suitcase.
Walking route to Matsuya Asakusa — about 230 m / 3 minutes from Kaminarimon Gate. The route reaches the building; allow time to find the ground-floor counter. Collect the same day: late collection adds ¥500 for each following day. Cold goods, live animals and valuables are excluded.
The counter also accepts domestic parcel shipments. Sending a suitcase onward and paying for local holding are different arrangements.
4. Tokyo Metro Asakusa lockers: for the Ginza Line route
Tokyo Metro’s Asakusa locker page links to the Ginza Line locker map. Use it to choose a bank near the approach you will actually use on return.
Check the displayed rate, size and access hours. Save the gate side and bank number before heading to Sensoji or the river. A Metro locker listing does not locate a bag within the Toei Asakusa Line station or Tobu terminal.
5. Tobu Asakusa lockers: keep collection near your onward train
The Tobu Asakusa station guide confirms coin lockers and provides the layout. This is a sensible bank to check when you will return for a Tobu journey, provided the case fits and collection access suits your ticket.
Read the bank’s current price and hours rather than assuming a single rate for all Asakusa stations. The Tsukuba Express Asakusa station is separately located in Nishi-Asakusa. Record “Tobu Asakusa” and the exact bank, not just “Asakusa.”
Two nearby places to send your suitcase
Your hotel front desk may save a walk altogether. Already out with the suitcase? Yamato’s directory lists these convenience stores as accepting shipments. They are sending points, not Silk Crane storage branches.
7-Eleven Tobu Asakusa Station
1-1-16 Asakusa
Walking directions to 7-Eleven Tobu Asakusa Station — about 190 m / 3 minutes from Kaminarimon Gate.
Daily Yamazaki Tobu Asakusa Station
1-2-6 Hanakawado
Walking directions to Daily Yamazaki Tobu Asakusa Station — about 250 m / 4 minutes from Kaminarimon Gate.
The directory lists both stores as open 24 hours. Carrier collection has separate cutoffs, and these stores do not accept Size 180 or 200 parcels. For larger luggage, use a Yamato service center and follow your sending instructions.
Walking estimates were checked on October 5, 2026, from the named starting point beside each link. They exclude platforms, indoor navigation, queues and the shipping handoff. The routes are useful examples, not a claim that these are the nearest stores. Allow extra time with luggage.
Questions before choosing
Which Asakusa option is cheapest?
Matsuya publishes a ¥500-per-box rate and Sagawa ¥800 per item per day, but the cheapest workable choice depends on the bag, collection time and locker availability. Ask about your actual case and compare the total charge.
Can I collect a bag at a different Asakusa station?
Ordinary local holding means returning to the same counter or locker. Silk Crane instead stores luggage sent in for later delivery, with shipping time and charges included in your plan.
Keep the next part of Japan simple
