Tenjin Luggage Storage: Shopping, Lockers and a Lighter Fukuoka Day
Share
Enjoy Tenjin’s department stores, smaller streets and underground shopping with less to carry. With Silk Crane, send packed purchases and spare luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store into monthly or annual storage and arrange later delivery. Shipping is charged separately.
Tenjin brings together department stores, smaller streets, underground shopping and several different stations. For a suitcase needed later today, pick a locker or agreed hotel holding near where you will finish, rather than choosing the first station name that sounds familiar.
Picture a shopping day without the extra suitcase

Picture checking out after a Fukuoka shopping stay, with several more weeks around Japan ahead. You have signed up for Silk Crane and received the sending instructions. Send the packed surplus suitcase from a convenience store, keeping clothing and essentials for the next stops and shipping time.
Browse Tenjin and stop for lunch with a small bag. Arrange delivery to a later hotel so earlier purchases do not follow every train journey; keep today’s finds manageable until they can be packed securely.
Three station names, different collection routes
Subway Tenjin is on the Airport Line, while Tenjin-minami serves the Nanakuma Line. Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) is a different railway station. Choose the exact station and gate area around your onward train.
The Fukuoka subway’s locker guide lists lockers outside subway ticket gates, including at Tenjin and Tenjin-minami. Its published sizes are indicative; the operator warns that individual machines may differ. Check the actual compartment, payment instructions and access window.
Use the underground map for the route back
The Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall access map helps locate elevators and connections to surrounding buildings. It is useful when choosing how to reach a stored suitcase after shopping.
Building connections have their own opening hours. A route through a department store may not remain available for a late collection, even if another station entrance is open. Note an accessible return route and the exact locker location before leaving.
Choose department stores, arcades or Daimyo’s smaller shops
Keep a little room in the day for a find you had not planned. Browse the department stores, explore Shintencho’s covered shopping streets, or head toward Daimyo for smaller clothing and vintage shops. Fukuoka’s shopping guide helps choose the kind of outing you want; the city’s shopping-street guide introduces the arcades.
For a bag needed today, Daimaru Fukuoka’s services guide lists KagoPass holding beside the main-building B1 tax-free counter, at ¥550–1,650 per item according to size. Ask for the day’s acceptance and collection times before leaving the bag. Airport delivery is a separate service with its own arrangements.
Daimaru also lists ordinary lockers by the main-building 1F south entrance and refrigerated lockers on East Building B2. A chilled-food locker is not a substitute for a suitcase compartment. For clothes and other purchases you can set aside, plan sending your Tenjin shopping to storage; ask about combining purchases with stored luggage when planning the final hotel stay.
Leave room for a more varied Tenjin walk
Fukuoka’s official Tenjin walking route includes more than shopping: it links the ACROS area, older buildings and places to pause. A smaller bag gives you more flexibility to enjoy those stops.
For dinner after the shops, check the luggage deadline first. If your hotel will hold the bag and you return there anyway, that may be simpler than a separate trip to a locker. Confirm the arrangement directly with the hotel.
Plan the next Fukuoka connection
If your next train leaves from Hakata, the Hakata Station luggage guide helps compare storage near that departure instead. If you continue toward Dazaifu on Nishitetsu, our Dazaifu luggage guide covers the separate attraction visit and its local storage options.
The Fukuoka and Kyushu luggage guide explains longer journeys beyond Fukuoka. Direct forwarding may suit the next hotel, while planned monthly or annual storage suits belongings that can wait longer. A normal Tenjin locker still requires collection from the same machine.
Questions before you leave your bag
Does Tenjin have luggage lockers?
Fukuoka subway’s official guide lists lockers at Tenjin and Tenjin-minami, outside the ticket gates. Check the actual size, payment method and access terms.
Are Tenjin and Nishitetsu Fukuoka the same station?
No. The area includes subway Tenjin, subway Tenjin-minami and Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin). Note the exact operator and gate area for collection.
Can I return through the same department store late at night?
Check its connection hours. The underground access map lists different hours for different building routes, so plan an available entrance for collection.
Should I leave shopping in a locker or send it into storage?
Use a locker for belongings you will collect within its terms. Silk Crane storage involves shipping and can suit shopping you do not need for a longer part of the trip.
