5 Shin-Osaka Luggage Storage Options Compared
Share
Make Shin-Osaka the start of a lighter rail journey. With Silk Crane, send the extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery when you need it again.
Monthly and annual storage are available, with shipping charged separately. For a bag needed before today’s train, compare Crosta, JR and Metro lockers, and Yamato’s east-side counter. Crosta is on 1F, while trains and other facilities use different levels, so build the collection walk into your departure plan.

A book, a window seat and a smaller bag

Imagine several days of shopping in Osaka followed by a week of rail travel through western Japan. Your large suitcase holds purchases and spare clothes; the smaller bag has everything you want for the next hotels.
Sign up for Silk Crane, use the supplied sending instructions and send the spare case from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Keep documents, medicine and essentials for the journey and shipping time. On the next train there is room to settle into a book. Arrange delivery to your later hotel, with enough time to receive the stored belongings before your flight.
A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day
Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery
Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.
Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Shin-Osaka and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.
Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.
2. Crosta Shin-Osaka: a first-floor counter open until 23:00
Crosta Shin-Osaka’s current counter guide lists ¥1,000 per day, 09:00–23:00, and up to 30 days of holding. The counter is on JR Shin-Osaka 1F, outside the gates, near the front bus-loading area.
From the Shinkansen South Gate, follow the operator’s directions down toward the main entrance; the neighboring 7-Eleven is a landmark. The later closing time is useful for an evening return, but leave time for the handoff and the trip back to your platform.
3. JR station lockers: choose a named entrance or concourse
The Osaka tourism Shin-Osaka locker maps distinguish the main entrance, arde Shin-Osaka, Central Exit and east- and west-side banks. Use the correct floor map, then read the selected bank’s current price and size.
For a few hours in Osaka followed by a Shinkansen departure, a locker on your return route can work well. Note whether it is inside or outside a paid area. A Metro ticket alone does not grant access to every JR concourse.
4. Metro Shin-Osaka lockers: convenient for a Midosuji Line outing
Osaka Metro’s Shin-Osaka station guide provides the M13 layout and coin-locker locations. Use that map when your excursion starts and ends on the Midosuji Line.
Check the bank’s price, compartment measurements and access window before paying. A Metro-side locker may save a detour during a city visit, but you will still need to collect and walk to JR for the Shinkansen. Include that transfer, rather than timing only the train journey back.
5. Yamato East Exit Center: storage outside the station
The Yamato Osaka baggage guide lists holding at 1-21-15 Higashinakajima for ¥800 per piece per day, with a published storage collection deadline of 20:00.
Walking directions to Yamato Shin-Osaka East Exit Center — about 2 minutes / 140 m from the Shin-Osaka Station map point. The current shipping-center directory lists general counter hours until 21:00, but use the earlier holding deadline for stored bags. Shipping onward and local collection are different services; tell the counter which you need.
Two nearby places to send your suitcase
Your hotel front desk may save a walk altogether. Already out with the case? Yamato’s directory lists these nearby places as accepting shipments. They are sending points, not Silk Crane storage branches.
Yamato Shin-Osaka East Exit Center
1-21-15 Higashinakajima, Higashiyodogawa-ku
Walking directions to Yamato Shin-Osaka East Exit Center — about 2 minutes / 140 m from the Shin-Osaka Station map point.
FamilyMart Shin-Osaka Station East Exit
1-21-18 Higashinakajima, Higashiyodogawa-ku
Walking directions to FamilyMart Shin-Osaka Station East Exit — about 3 minutes / 170 m from the Shin-Osaka Station map point.
The Yamato center lists general counter hours of 08:00–21:00 daily and a 19:00 dispatch cutoff. FamilyMart lists 24-hour opening but cannot send Size 180 or 200 parcels. Follow Silk Crane’s supplied sending instructions and keep what you need during shipping.
Walking estimates were checked October 5, 2026, from the map starting point named beside each link. Allow extra time for platforms, indoor navigation, stairs, queues and the handoff. These are useful examples, not a claim that they are the nearest stores.
Questions before choosing
Is Shin-Osaka the same station as Osaka Station?
No. Shin-Osaka is the Shinkansen interchange; JR Osaka is in Umeda. Save the full storage-location name and allow for the journey between the two if your sightseeing or hotel is around Umeda.
Can I leave luggage at Crosta for more than one day?
Crosta publishes a maximum of 30 days, charged by the day. Compare the total for your dates with Silk Crane’s storage plan and separate shipping when the bag can be delivered to a later destination instead of collected here.
