Sendai luggage storage: send the suitcase from your hotel and enjoy leafy Jozenji-dori with less to carry.

5 Sendai Station Luggage Storage Options Compared

Enjoy Sendai’s food and leafy streets without carrying the spare suitcase through the rest of Tohoku. With Silk Crane, send it from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

Monthly and annual storage plans are available, with shipping charged separately. For a case needed again after today’s visit, compare station lockers, BAGGAGE STORAGE+, Yamato and Hotel Metropolitan guest holding. The two public counters are on different floors and have different collection times.

A slower afternoon on Jozenji-dori

Sendai luggage storage: send the suitcase from your hotel and enjoy leafy Jozenji-dori with less to carry.
Send the extra suitcase and enjoy Sendai’s leafy streets with less to carry.

Imagine a traveler spending a few days in Sendai before continuing through northern Japan. Her second suitcase contains purchases she wants at the final Tokyo hotel. She signs up for Silk Crane and sends it from her Sendai hotel front desk using the supplied instructions.

She keeps documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping in a small bag. There is time for a stroll along Jozenji-dori and a meal with a friend without planning another collection stop for that suitcase. She arranges later delivery ahead of the Tokyo stay. A visitor catching a train with all their bags tonight can instead use the local choices below.

Send before checkout or while you are out

Picture setting aside the suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip. Send it from your hotel front desk before checkout, or from a convenience store while you are out. Sign up for Silk Crane, use the supplied sending instructions and keep your essentials during shipping. Arrange delivery to your later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery

Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.

Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Sendai Station and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.

Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.

2. Station lockers: save the bank and floor

JR East’s illustrated Sendai locker guide maps banks from 3F down to B1. The 3F banks suit the Shinkansen approach, while the west-side 1F banks may fit a street-level return. Access and payment methods vary.

Use the official Sendai Station floor map to record the exact place. Check price, fit and the charging boundary on the selected locker. A map pin for the station alone is not enough to find your case quickly before a train.

3. BAGGAGE STORAGE+: beside the 3F ticket machines

JR East’s current BAGGAGE STORAGE+ details gives 09:30–19:00 at the desk beside the 3F reserved-seat ticket machines. Daily charges are ¥500 / ¥800 / ¥1,000 / ¥2,000 for combined dimensions up to 105 / 140 / 160 cm / above 160 cm, with a 30 kg limit.

Each item is charged separately, including another bag placed on a suitcase. Multi-day holding is available for up to 30 days with daily charges; collection is during opening hours. Compare the full cost and the need to return to Sendai before choosing a longer stay.

4. Yamato: the 2F counter with an earlier deadline

Yamato’s current holding-price list specifies ¥800 per item at the Sendai Station 2F counter, with same-day collection by 18:30. The Sendai tourism baggage guide separately lists baggage acceptance until 18:00.

Use Yamato’s Sendai Station 2F map pin and the station floor map. Ask for the TA-Q-BIN counter on 2F, rather than the BAGGAGE STORAGE+ desk upstairs. Allow time to collect and reach the platform; the office’s later closing time does not extend the holding deadline.

5. Hotel Metropolitan Sendai: a guest-service alternative

Hotel Metropolitan Sendai’s guest FAQ confirms holding before check-in and after checkout at the 1F bell captain’s desk. Ask about the terms for your stay and agree a collection time.

The hotel describes a one-minute walk from Sendai Station’s west exit. Follow its west-exit hotel access guide for the final approach. This is Hotel Metropolitan Sendai, not the separate East hotel. Treat the service as holding around a guest stay, not a public counter.

Send at the hotel or a station-side counter

Your hotel front desk or a convenience store can start the shipment into Silk Crane storage. Already carrying the case at Sendai Station? Yamato’s station-counter directory identifies its 2F TA-Q-BIN desk.

Sign up first and follow the supplied sending instructions. Ask about parcel dispatch and its timing separately from same-day local holding. Keep essentials with you during transit and arrange delivery to your later hotel ahead of time. The independent counter is a sending point, not a Silk Crane walk-in branch.

Questions before choosing

Are Sendai’s two baggage counters the same service?

No. BAGGAGE STORAGE+ is on 3F and lists reception until 19:00. Yamato is on 2F and requires collection of locally held bags by 18:30. Choose the correct floor and deadline.

Can I leave luggage in Sendai while visiting other parts of Japan?

BAGGAGE STORAGE+ offers multi-day holding with daily charges, but you must return to collect. Silk Crane offers monthly and annual storage for shipped belongings with later delivery in Japan, which can suit a route that ends elsewhere. Shipping is separate.
