Castle-town time before heading into Hakone
Picture a traveler combining Odawara’s castle town with a few days in Hakone, carrying a suitcase intended for a later Tokyo stay. After signing up for Silk Crane, they send it from their hotel using the supplied instructions and keep the clothing and essentials needed during shipping.
They can explore with a small bag and continue onward without coming back for a locker. Delivery to the later Tokyo hotel is arranged in advance. For a suitcase needed at the Hakone hotel tonight, direct forwarding or same-day local holding is a different, often simpler choice.

Compare 4 choices for your journey
This is Silk Crane’s comparison, not an independent ranking. Prices are in yen. Compare the full cost, location and collection plan, rather than treating monthly storage and a few hours in a locker as the same service.
| Option | Price basis | Collection | Good fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silk Crane: send into storage for later delivery | Monthly or annual plan + separate shipping | Later delivery in Japan | Belongings that can skip part of the trip |
| Station-area coin lockers | Posted by bank and size | Return to the exact bank before access closes | A same-day station stop |
| Odakyu Travel Center holding | Ask the counter for the current item charge | Accept 08:30–16:00; collect by 16:30 | A staffed station option |
| Odawara Visitor Center | ¥1,000 per item; same day only | Accept 09:00–16:00; collect during opening hours | A castle-side base |
1. Silk Crane: send into storage for later delivery
Send your suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storefront or return to the same locker.
Choose a monthly or annual storage plan for your Odawara Station itinerary; shipping is charged separately. Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Odawara Station and does not offer immediate retrieval.
Keep documents, medicine and what you need during shipping with you. Arrange delivery to your later hotel or departure airport in Japan in advance. If the bag is needed today, use local holding. If it is simply going straight to the next hotel, direct forwarding may suit better.
2. Station-area coin lockers
Odawara has locker banks across its railway and shopping areas. The Odawara tourism locker directory helps locate them; its dated map is useful for orientation, not a promise of today’s vacancies or prices.
Choose the bank around your onward route and read its current fee, rollover time and maximum stay. Save the railway area and exit as well as the locker number. Shopping-building access may end earlier than you expect from the train timetable.
3. Odakyu Travel Center holding
Odakyu’s Odawara center location and luggage hours places the center opposite the Odakyu ticket gate in the east–west Arc Road passage. Luggage acceptance runs 08:30–16:00, with collection by 16:30; identification is required.
The center advertises holding for bags that do not fit lockers. Ask for the price and return receipt at handoff. This early collection deadline suits a daytime castle visit better than an open-ended evening outing.
4. Odawara Visitor Center
The Visitor Center’s luggage service offers same-day holding for ¥1,000 per item, accepting bags 09:00–16:00. Space is limited; retain the receipt and collect during business hours.
The Visitor Center access map and opening times places it at 1-7-50 Honcho, in front of the castle’s Umadashi Gate, about 13 minutes on foot from Odawara Station’s east exit. The building opens 09:00–17:00 and closes for December 29–January 3. Include the walk back to the station when choosing this option.
Where to send your luggage
Before leaving your hotel, sending the ordinary suitcase from the front desk or a convenience store can remove the whole station-storage detour. Book Silk Crane first and follow the sending instructions. Find Yamato shipping locations around your Odawara address for current branch services; the station’s storage desk is not automatically a Silk Crane sending point.
Use a carrier counter or hotel pickup for 180- and 200-size parcels. Keep essentials with you. If you need the whole suitcase at your next hotel soon, ask about direct delivery instead of adding a storage stop.
A convenience-store handoff while you are out
Picture sending the ordinary suitcase from a convenience store, then browsing Odawara’s food shops with a small shoulder bag. Sign up for Silk Crane and use the supplied instructions, keep your essentials during shipping, and arrange delivery to a later stop in Japan.

Questions before choosing
Which option is closest to the Odakyu gate?
The Odakyu Travel Center is opposite that gate in the east–west passage. Confirm its current charge and collect by 16:30.
Can I leave a suitcase at the Visitor Center overnight?
Its published service is same-day holding. Arrange another option for an overnight stay, and remember the center is about 13 minutes from the station’s east exit.
