Narita Airport: send ski gear at the Yamato counter and enjoy Kyoto before the mountain stay.

Narita Airport Luggage Storage: 5 Options Compared

A ski bag can come to Japan without joining every train ride. Silk Crane lets you send sports equipment or extra luggage into storage, tour with a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you need it again. Send an ordinary suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store; an airport shipping counter can also start the journey straight after arrival at Narita.

Silk Crane offers monthly and annual storage, with shipping charged separately. For a bag you need again today, compare the local choices below and plan the collection route before setting off.

Kyoto first, the slopes later

Imagine arriving at Narita with ski equipment, but visiting Kyoto before the mountain part of your trip. You sign up for Silk Crane and send the ski bag from the airport Yamato counter using the supplied instructions, keeping the clothing and essentials needed during shipping.

Enjoy Kyoto’s lantern-lit streets with small bags, then arrange delivery of the stored gear to your mountain hotel before skiing begins. The same storage idea works after the activity: send the gear from your hotel, tour Japan or Asia, then arrange delivery to your last Japan hotel or departure airport.

This is Silk Crane’s comparison, not an independent ranking. Prices are in yen. Compare the full cost, location and collection plan, rather than treating monthly storage and a few hours in a locker as the same service.

1. Silk Crane: send into storage for later delivery

Send your suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storefront or return to the same locker.

Choose a monthly or annual storage plan for your Narita Airport itinerary; shipping is charged separately. Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Narita Airport and does not offer immediate retrieval.

Keep documents, medicine and what you need during shipping with you. Arrange delivery to your later hotel or departure airport in Japan in advance. If the bag is needed today, use local holding. If it is simply going straight to the next hotel, direct forwarding may suit better.

2. Airport coin lockers

Narita’s locker locations, dimensions and prices separates daily and hourly lockers. Ordinary daily units cost ¥400 small, ¥600 medium or ¥800 large, with a new charge at midnight and an eight-day maximum. Hourly banks at T2 B1 and T3 2F use a different first-six-hour tariff.

T3 2F also lists extra-tall units at ¥1,200 per 12 hours, with a five-day maximum. The compartment is 227 cm high but only 34 cm wide and 66 cm deep: height alone does not establish that a golf or bicycle case fits. Read the exact bank’s conditions before paying.

3. JAL ABC

JAL ABC’s storage prices and item examples lists small ¥800, medium ¥1,000 and large ¥2,000 per day at Narita. Its examples put a golf bag in the medium group and a set of skis in the large group. Calendar-day billing includes both the deposit and collection days.

Use Narita’s storage counter maps to select a T1 or T2 arrivals or departures desk. Arrivals desks generally start at 06:30 and close one hour after the last international arrival; departure-floor desks are listed 07:00–21:00. Confirm your exact desk and return time when leaving the bag.

4. Sagawa T1 South 4F

Sagawa’s T1 South Wing counter and booking link lists this desk on T1 South Wing 4F, before security, open 07:00–21:00. Combined-size rates are ¥500 up to 100 cm, ¥700 for 101–160 cm and ¥1,150 for 161–200 cm, per item/day.

The page links online storage booking. These figures describe this particular counter; use the operator’s map and confirmation rather than assuming every Narita Sagawa desk has identical terms.

5. NPF T2 departures

NPF’s T2 luggage-storage service is on T2 3F departures, north side, open 06:30–22:00. Its daily rates are ¥500 for small items up to 115 cm combined size, ¥700 for ordinary items up to 160 cm and ¥1,100 for larger items.

Charges follow calendar days. Collect on the departure floor before security, keeping enough time for your airline’s baggage-drop deadline. A later counter closing does not extend airline check-in.

Store sports gear before or after the activity

Golf clubs, skis, snowboards and bicycle equipment do not need to follow every stop of your holiday. If the sporting activity comes later, send the gear to Silk Crane as soon as you arrive in Japan, using the airport shipping counter and the instructions supplied after signup. Travel with a smaller bag, then ask us to forward the gear to your next hotel or sporting destination in Japan when it is time to use it.

Finished the sporting part of the trip? Send the equipment or extra luggage into storage, enjoy the rest of Japan or a side trip around Asia, and arrange delivery to your final hotel in Japan or your Japanese departure airport. For an Asia side trip, the gear stays in Japan until you return; this is not international forwarding.

Plan the return shipment with us before the next activity or flight, allowing at least seven days’ notice whenever possible and waiting for the agreed delivery schedule. See how hotel, resort and airport delivery works. Shipping is charged separately.

For skis and snowboards, arrange sending through your hotel or a carrier counter. Measure a packed bicycle case before booking: length + width + height must not exceed 200 cm for this shipping service. Cases above that limit cannot be sent through the service to storage, a hotel or an airport. Our bicycle packing and 200 cm guide explains the practical limit. Ask the airport counter about packing and acceptance before taking bulky gear there.

Where to send your luggage

Narita’s shipping-counter map lists Yamato on T1 North and South arrivals 1F, T2 1F and T3 1F. Choose the counter in your arrival terminal and use your Silk Crane sending instructions. Storage at an airport counter and sending to Silk Crane are separate transactions.

You can also settle in first and send an ordinary suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed while the shipment travels. See the arrival-to-storage guide for the next step.

A convenience-store handoff while you are out

Picture a stop in Narita town with an ordinary suitcase you will not need until later in the trip. After signing up for Silk Crane, send it from a convenience store using the supplied instructions and explore with small bags. Keep your essentials during shipping and arrange later delivery in Japan. The 7-Eleven handoff shown here is for a suitcase, not ski or snowboard equipment.

Questions before choosing

Can I leave luggage overnight at Narita?

Several local options allow overnight holding, but the billing boundary and maximum stay differ. Ordinary daily lockers add a charge at midnight; check the exact counter or bank before leaving a bag.

What if I arrive at Narita and leave from Haneda?

Silk Crane can store shipped belongings and arrange later delivery to your Japan hotel or departure airport. Agree the destination and schedule in advance; local Narita holding normally means returning to Narita to collect.

Enjoy the next stop with less to carry

Send the extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later stop in Japan. Choose monthly or annual storage; shipping is charged separately.
