5 Kyoto Station Luggage Storage Options Compared

Give Kyoto’s gardens and little lanes more of your day. With Silk Crane, send your spare suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, travel with a smaller bag and arrange delivery to a later stop.

Monthly and annual storage are available, with shipping charged separately. If you need the bag back after today’s sightseeing, Kyoto Station has local counters and lockers. Choose by the station side and your collection time: north-side Crosta, south-side Sagawa and a Yamato center west of the station serve different walks.

A garden morning before western Japan

A traveler sends a green suitcase from a hotel front desk, then relaxes beside a Kyoto temple garden.
Send the spare suitcase and make time for a Kyoto garden.

Picture checking out near Kyoto Station, with a quiet temple garden planned before several nights farther west. Your spare suitcase holds earlier purchases and clothes you will only want for the final Osaka stay.

Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions and send that case from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Keep everything needed during shipping in the smaller bag. You can sit beside the garden without planning a return to a Kyoto locker. Arrange delivery to your final hotel with time to receive the case and repack before your flight.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day

Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

An ordinary suitcase at 7-Eleven

Kyoto: send an ordinary suitcase from 7-Eleven and explore Kyoto’s old lanes with a small bag.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery

Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.

Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Kyoto Station and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.

Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.

2. Crosta Kyoto: below the north-side Central Gate

Crosta Kyoto’s location and service guide places the counter on B1 below JR’s conventional-line Central Gate. Holding costs ¥1,000 per day, with hours 08:00–20:00 and a maximum of 30 days.

This is a straightforward choice when you will return to the north side. Use Crosta’s indoor directions rather than navigating only to “Kyoto Station.” Its hotel-delivery service is a separate choice with its own arrangements; decide whether you want counter collection or delivery before handing over the bag.

3. Station lockers: save the exact bank, not just the station

The Kyoto City luggage and station map lets you locate lockers around the station. Check the selected compartment’s price, dimensions, gate side and daily charging boundary at the bank.

Lockers can suit a single garden or museum day when you are coming back through Kyoto Station. For a late return, check access to that bank rather than assuming the whole station shares one closing time. Photograph its number and a nearby sign; the north and south sides are different collection journeys.

4. Sagawa ASTY Kyoto: a counter on the Hachijo side

Sagawa’s ASTY Kyoto counter information lists 08:45–20:00 at ASTY Kyoto 1F, 8-3 Higashishiokoji Takakuracho. Daily holding is ¥1,000 up to 160 cm combined length, width and height, or ¥1,500 from 161 cm.

Use the operator’s location map for the final indoor approach. This can save crossing the station when your plans begin and end on the Hachijo side. Measure the packed suitcase, including its wheels and handle, before comparing the two price bands.

5. Yamato Kyoto Station Center: a west-side street address

Yamato lists baggage holding at 308 Aburanokojicho, Shimogyo-ku. Its baggage service directory and fee sheet quote ¥1,000 per piece, with collection by 18:00 that day.

Walking directions to Yamato Kyoto Station Center — about 9 minutes / 650 m from Kyoto Station. This is a street-side center, not a desk inside the station. Its shipping counter stays open later than the published storage collection deadline, so do not use general opening hours to plan a late baggage pickup.

Two nearby places to send your suitcase

Your hotel front desk may save a walk altogether. Already out with the case? Yamato’s directory lists these nearby places as accepting shipments. They are sending points, not Silk Crane storage branches.

The Yamato center lists 08:00–21:00 Monday–Saturday and 08:00–19:00 Sundays and holidays for counter service. The 7-Eleven lists 24-hour opening and cannot send Size 180 or 200 parcels. Shipping collection cutoffs are separate from shop opening hours.

Questions before choosing

Which Kyoto Station option is best for today’s sightseeing?

Choose a local counter or locker on the side you will return to, with a collection window that leaves room for your onward train. Crosta and Sagawa both close at 20:00; Yamato’s published holding deadline is 18:00.

Do I need to return to Kyoto to retrieve Silk Crane luggage?

No. Arrange delivery to a later hotel or an airport pickup counter through your storage booking. Allow shipping time and keep essentials with you. A final Osaka hotel can be more convenient when your trip ends at Kansai Airport.
