5 Ikebukuro Luggage Storage Options Compared
Share
Keep Ikebukuro’s shopping streets enjoyable after checkout. With Silk Crane, send your extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later hotel, leaving you with a smaller bag for the day.
Monthly and annual storage are available; shipping is charged separately. If the suitcase belongs on tonight’s train, local lockers are the useful alternative. These five choices cover the station, the west-side department store and Sunshine City to the east.

Shopping first, a smaller bag for the next towns

Imagine two friends checking out near Ikebukuro before a shopping afternoon and several nights elsewhere in Japan. One suitcase holds spare clothing they will not need on the next leg. They sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions and send it from a convenience store while already out in the neighborhood.
They keep their travel clothes, documents and shipping-day essentials in smaller bags, then enjoy the shops without returning to a locker. The stored case is delivered to their final Tokyo hotel in time to pack for home. Purchases they need tonight stay with them.
Send before checkout or while you are out
Picture setting aside the suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip. Send it from your hotel front desk before checkout, or from a convenience store while you are out. Sign up for Silk Crane, use the supplied sending instructions and keep your essentials during shipping. Arrange delivery to your later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery
Choose Silk Crane when the extra suitcase can skip part of your trip. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you need the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location and no return journey to collect from the same locker.
Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Ikebukuro and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.
Sign up before sending and use the supplied address and instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the bag’s return. If the suitcase simply needs to reach your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler arrangement.
2. JR Ikebukuro lockers: keep the railway in your notes
JR East’s Ikebukuro station information confirms lockers and provides the current station map. Choose a bank that works for your return route, then photograph its number and the nearest gate sign.
Read the actual compartment size, charge and access hours before paying. A JR station label does not tell you whether a particular bank requires paid-area access. For a day ending on Seibu, Tobu or Metro, include the collection walk before your connection.
3. Tokyo Metro lockers: choose the line as well as the station
Tokyo Metro’s Ikebukuro locker directory links to locker locations for the Marunouchi, Yurakucho and Fukutoshin lines. Use that line-specific map instead of assuming all Ikebukuro lockers share one hall.
The current charge and return conditions are shown at your selected bank. Note its exit landmark and which side of the gates it occupies. If you are browsing east of the station, compare that route with keeping the bag at Sunshine City itself.
4. Sunshine City lockers: keep collection beside the outing
The Sunshine City facilities guide lists lockers in the B1 connecting passage, alpa and other parts of the complex. Published prices are ¥400 small, ¥700 medium and ¥1,000 large.
Most banks operate 08:00–22:00; the Bunka Kaikan 1F bus-terminal bank is listed as 05:00–01:00. Another charge applies after midnight. Choose the exact bank before relying on that later collection window.
Walking route toward Sunshine City — about 750 m / 11 minute from the Ikefukuro owl statue at Ikebukuro Station. The map destination is Sunshine 60 within the complex, not a locker compartment. Use the facilities map for the final indoor walk.
5. Tobu department-store lockers: useful on the west side
Tobu Ikebukuro’s facilities guide lists ambient lockers at the 1F zone 2 entrance, 2F zone 11 entrance, B2F zone 6 stairs and B2F zone 11. Prices are ¥400 small, ¥500 medium and ¥700 large.
Collection is unavailable outside business hours, and an equal additional charge is added at midnight. Use the store’s floor guide for your bank and check its closing time before an evening plan. This choice keeps collection on the Tobu side rather than requiring a return from Sunshine City across the interchange.
Two nearby places to send your suitcase
Your hotel front desk may save a walk altogether. Already out with the suitcase? Yamato’s directory lists these convenience stores as accepting shipments. They are sending points, not Silk Crane storage branches.
FamilyMart Ikebukuro Station East
1-7-12 Higashi-Ikebukuro
Walking directions to FamilyMart Ikebukuro Station East — about 260 m / 4 minutes from the Ikefukuro owl statue at Ikebukuro Station.
FamilyMart Ikebukuro Station West
1-4-10 Nishi-Ikebukuro
Walking directions to FamilyMart Ikebukuro Station West — about 450 m / 7 minutes from the Ikefukuro owl statue at Ikebukuro Station.
The directory lists both stores as open 24 hours. Carrier collection has separate cutoffs, and these stores do not accept Size 180 or 200 parcels. For larger luggage, use a Yamato service center and follow your sending instructions.
Walking estimates were checked on October 5, 2026, from the named starting point beside each link. They exclude platforms, indoor navigation, queues and the shipping handoff. The routes are useful examples, not a claim that these are the nearest stores. Allow extra time with luggage.
Questions before choosing
Should I leave luggage at Ikebukuro or Sunshine City?
Choose where you will return. Station storage can suit an onward train; Sunshine City lockers can save a separate collection walk when your whole outing stays in the complex. Compare the actual closing time and the bag’s size.
Can I leave extra purchases with Silk Crane too?
Packed purchases that can wait until later in your trip can form part of your storage plan. Follow the sending instructions and arrange delivery with time to receive and repack them. For today’s shopping you want tonight, use local holding or keep it with you.
