Harajuku luggage storage: send the extra suitcase and enjoy an Omotesando café with less to carry.

5 Harajuku & Omotesando Luggage Storage Options Compared

Enjoy Harajuku’s shops and linger over an Omotesando coffee with less to carry. With Silk Crane, send your extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery when you need it again.

Monthly and annual storage, with shipping charged separately, can keep a spare case out of the next few stops. For today’s bag, choose between JR Harajuku, Meiji-jingumae, Omotesando and a visitor-information counter. These are different collection points, even when your walk connects them.

Takeshita Street, a café and no return for a spare case

Harajuku luggage storage: send the extra suitcase and enjoy an Omotesando café with less to carry.
Send the extra suitcase and take your time over an Omotesando café stop.

Imagine arriving in Harajuku after checkout, with a shopping afternoon before several nights outside Tokyo. You have one suitcase more than you want to take through the smaller towns. Sign up for Silk Crane, use the supplied sending instructions and send that case from a convenience store while you are already out.

Keep the clothes, documents and other essentials needed during shipping with you. You can browse toward Omotesando and sit down for coffee without returning to a Harajuku locker. Arrange delivery to your later Tokyo hotel, leaving time to receive and repack the stored luggage before departure.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day

Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery

Choose Silk Crane when the extra suitcase can skip part of your trip. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you need the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location and no return journey to collect from the same locker.

Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Harajuku & Omotesando and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.

Sign up before sending and use the supplied address and instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the bag’s return. If the suitcase simply needs to reach your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler arrangement.

2. JR Harajuku lockers: check the gate side first

JR East’s Harajuku locker guide identifies a bank inside the gates near the elevator and escalator toward Shibuya, plus an outside-gate location by the Omotesando gate’s East Exit escalator.

The feature was updated in February 2025, so use its location advice and read the current price at the bank. An outside bank avoids a paid-area return; an inside bank may suit a day that ends with another Yamanote Line journey. Save the exact gate and bank in your notes.

3. Meiji-jingumae lockers: useful for a Metro arrival

The Meiji-jingumae locker map shows banks by Exits 3 and 6 and near the Jingumae intersection gate. Small, medium and large compartments are listed at ¥500, ¥600 and ¥900; the Exit 3 bank also lists extra-large at ¥1,000.

This is a separate station from JR Harajuku. Choose a bank that works for your Chiyoda or Fukutoshin Line route and check availability before deciding that a particular suitcase will fit.

4. Omotesando lockers: finish the day farther along the avenue

The Omotesando locker map distinguishes banks near the Aoyama-dori gate and B3, plus a bank inside the Jingumae/Harajuku-side gate. Small and medium are ¥500 and ¥600; B3 and the inside-gate bank also list large at ¥900.

Walking route from Harajuku to Omotesando Station — about 900 m / 13 min from the Harajuku Station map reference point. That extra walk is worthwhile only if it fits your plans. Leaving a case at Harajuku and ending at Omotesando adds a collection journey in the opposite direction.

5. HIS Harajuku: a counter beside the Takeshita approach

HIS Harajuku Tourist Information Center offers baggage holding. Ask for the current quote for your case and collect before the 18:00 closing time.

The Tokyo tourist-information listing gives hours of 10:00–18:00, with New Year closures, at 1F Harajuku Ash Building, 1-19-11 Jingumae. Walking route to HIS Harajuku — about 36 m / 1 min from JR Harajuku’s Takeshita Exit. Allow time for the counter handoff.

This choice suits a daytime visit when you prefer handing the bag to a person. It is less useful if dinner will keep you out past the collection deadline.

Two nearby places to send your suitcase

Your hotel front desk may save a walk altogether. Already out with the suitcase? Yamato’s directory lists these nearby places as accepting shipments. They are sending points, not Silk Crane storage branches.

FamilyMart Harajuku Takeshita Exit

The directory lists both stores as open 24 hours. Carrier collection has separate cutoffs, and these stores do not accept Size 180 or 200 parcels. For larger luggage, use a Yamato service center and follow your sending instructions.

Walking estimates were checked on October 5, 2026, from the named starting point beside each link. They exclude platforms, indoor navigation, queues and the shipping handoff. The routes are useful examples, not a claim that these are the nearest stores. Allow extra time with luggage.

Questions before choosing

Should I choose Harajuku or Omotesando storage?

Start with your last stop and onward train. If you will walk one way from Takeshita Street toward Aoyama, an Omotesando collection may save retracing the whole route. Check the gate side as well as the station name.

Can I send shopping purchases into storage?

Purchases that you do not need until later can be packed and sent under your Silk Crane storage plan. Follow the sending instructions and leave time for later delivery. Keep today’s purchases with you if you need them tonight.

Keep the next part of Japan simple

Send the extra luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later stop. Choose monthly or annual storage; shipping is charged separately.
