Your Family’s Japan Kit: Four Suitcases Between Tokyo Visits
Share
Some things earn a place on every family visit to Japan. With Silk Crane, they can stay here between trips. Send the family’s extra suitcases from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, then arrange delivery for your next Tokyo stay. You can make the international journey with less to carry while keeping the belongings you like using in Japan.
Silk Crane offers monthly and annual storage; shipping is charged separately.

A familiar kit for each return

One Silk Crane customer family returns to Japan a couple of times each year and keeps four large suitcases with us between visits. They retrieve the suitcases when they return, so their useful Japan kit stays here while they travel back and forth with less luggage.
That is the appeal of a family kit: the next visit starts with belongings you already know you like using. It also changes the packing question from “Can we fit everything into the flight bags?” to “Which of our Japan bags will we need this time?”
Send before checkout or while you are out
Picture setting aside the suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip. Send it from your hotel front desk before checkout, or from a convenience store while you are out. Sign up for Silk Crane, use the supplied sending instructions and keep your essentials during shipping. Arrange delivery to your later hotel in Japan.

Pack around the family you will bring next time
For your own family, picture separate cases for different uses: one for cold-weather clothes, another for spare travel belongings. Those are packing ideas, rather than details of the customer’s suitcases. Choose a division that makes sense when you need a whole case delivered.
Children grow and seasons change. Before storing clothing, consider whether it is likely to fit and suit the next visit. Keep an inventory or a quick photograph of each packed case so you can decide what to request without relying on memory.
Keep passports, medicine, valuables and everything needed at home or during shipping in the bags traveling with you. Dry and clean belongings before packing them away.
Choose a receiving place with room to unpack
Arrange delivery to the hotel or other receiving address for your next Japan stay. Confirm that it can receive the suitcases on the planned date and allow time for shipping. You do not have to build the trip around returning to the hotel where you originally sent them.
If you need only part of the family kit, identify the separately stored suitcases you want delivered. Standard retrieval returns complete stored packages; picking individual items out of a suitcase needs an advance discussion. Our guide to separate luggage deliveries explains how different bags can follow different plans.
Choose storage for the time between trips
Monthly and annual plans give you a way to match storage to the gap between visits. Keep the plan active while the bags remain stored, and budget for sending them in, each delivery and any later return to storage. Shipping is charged separately.
When the family is still touring Japan, the family luggage guide for a single Japan trip covers daily essentials and changing hotels. Between international visits, the useful difference is that the Japan kit stays here.
Questions before you pack
Do we need to retrieve all four suitcases together?
You can arrange delivery of selected, separately stored suitcases. Identify the bags and receiving details in advance; shipping is charged per shipment and package as applicable.
Can our next hotel be different?
Yes. Arrange delivery to the receiving address for that visit, with its agreement and enough shipping time.
Can I store children’s clothing between trips?
Plan around likely fit and season before deciding what stays. Keep anything the family needs between visits with you, and follow the storage packing instructions.
