Give winter gear a good finish before storage.
After the last run, let the skis, snowboard, boots and clothing dry before closing the bags. Then send the winter setup to Silk Crane and continue with the luggage you need for the rest of Japan.
Clean, dry gear helps reduce odor, rust and mildew risk while it waits for the next season.
Send skis or snowboards through your hotel or Yamato. Send ordinary suitcases from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Monthly and annual storage plans are available; shipping is charged separately.

The winter bags go to storage. Your next train journey needs only everyday luggage, and the gear stays in Japan for another winter.

A good final pack
Dry the whole setup
Let skis, boards and boots dry fully. Check gloves, liners, clothing and the bags themselves before closing them. Damp soft items should not be tucked away with otherwise dry equipment.
Pack gear and accessories securely
Use appropriate ski, snowboard, boot or gear bags. Keep small accessories contained and identified, and put your assigned storage details on every separate package.
Add the carrier cover
Yamato requires its designated plastic protective cover over ski, snowboard and all-in-one cases, even when the equipment is already in a manufacturer’s bag.

Ask for help when drying time is short
If you cannot send the equipment clean and dry, ask Silk Crane before or during booking about cleaning, drying or care for winter clothing.
Care, covers and delivery are separate from storage. Use the shipping estimates to plan the journey.

Yes. Send gear clean and dry whenever possible to help reduce odor, rust and mildew risk.
Does a ski bag replace Yamato’s protective cover?
No. Yamato’s designated cover is also required for the ski service, including over a manufacturer’s bag.
