Chiba Station luggage storage: hand over the spare suitcase at your hotel and continue through the station with a small backpack.

Chiba Station Luggage Storage and Lockers: Gates and Reservations

Leave your spare suitcase out of the next train journey from Chiba. With Silk Crane’s monthly and annual storage, send it from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, travel with a smaller bag and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan. Your connection can focus on the next stop instead of collecting that case. Shipping is charged separately.

A departure with the bag you actually need

Picture checking out in Chiba before continuing farther through Japan. The backpack has clothes for the coming days, while the large suitcase holds shopping and spare items for later. Arrange to send that case from your hotel to Silk Crane.

Enter the station with the backpack and time to find your train. You do not need to search for a locker for the stored case or return to collect it before boarding. Arrange its delivery to a later hotel in advance.

Send the spare suitcase from your hotel and make your Chiba train journey easier.

Sign up and use Silk Crane’s supplied sending instructions before handing over the case. A convenience-store shipment also works if you are already outside the hotel with it. Keep travel documents and enough clothing for the days apart, including shipping.

Find a bank on the right side of the gates

For same-day holding, JR East’s Chiba Station locker guide lists six areas inside and outside the gates. Reservable Multi Ecube lockers are listed on the fourth floor inside the gates at Perie Chiba Ekinaka, and on the third-floor south-exit pedestrian deck outside. Choose the gate side around your return route.

The operator guide also lists lockers by the central passage inside the gates, and outside near the central/east/park exits, the west exit and Perie’s first-floor east-exit area. Its illustrated directions help distinguish these locations. The south-exit lockers moved in 2025, so use the current guide rather than an older screenshot.

Photograph your locker number and nearby signs. A floor number alone is easy to confuse when returning in a hurry. Before paying, check your suitcase with wheels and handles included, plus the payment method, charging boundary and maximum period.

Reservation and collection hours need separate checks

The fourth-floor Perie Ekinaka bank is listed as accessible from 8:00 to 22:00. The south pedestrian-deck bank is listed from first to last train. Reservations require registration, and using a bank inside the gates without taking a train requires an admission ticket. Check the current service and machine instructions before booking.

A reservation for one bank does not reserve space elsewhere in the station. Keep the booking details and allow time to reach the right floor. If your plans change, check the reservation service’s own change or cancellation instructions.

Keep JR, Keisei and monorail collection clear

The Chiba Monorail FAQ separately confirms lockers outside its gates at Chiba and Chiba-Minato. These should not be confused with a JR locker booking. Check which railway’s signs and entrance you will need when returning.

Use the Chiba city luggage guide for the wider stay, or the Port Tower and waterfront guide for the harbor area. If the bag is needed tonight, local holding may fit; if it is for later in Japan, sending it from the hotel can simplify several travel days.

Send the spare suitcase and plan its return

Book storage, follow the sending instructions and ask your hotel front desk to help arrange the shipment. Keep your medicine, documents and the belongings you need during shipping with you. Confirm that your later hotel can receive the case, then plan your storage and delivery dates.

Silk Crane receives shipped belongings for monthly or annual storage and later delivery. Shipping is charged separately, as explained in the storage and shipping cost guide. This is not an on-site walk-in counter or immediate bag collection service.

Questions before you go

Does Chiba Station have luggage lockers?

Yes. JR East publishes six locker areas across the station, inside and outside the gates. Use its current illustrated guide to find the appropriate bank.

Can I reserve a locker at Chiba Station?

The published Multi Ecube options are at Perie Ekinaka on the fourth floor inside the gates and the south pedestrian deck outside. Registration and the reservation service’s terms apply.

Are all locker areas accessible until the last train?

No. The fourth-floor Perie bank is listed as 8:00–22:00. Check the hours for the particular bank rather than assuming station-wide access.

Can I use Silk Crane for later delivery instead?

Yes. Arrange sending from your hotel into monthly or annual storage, with shipping charged separately and time allowed for later delivery.
