Separate the station counter from LUSCA
JR confirms coin lockers at Atami Station. For an option outside the rail gates, LUSCA’s service directory lists third-floor lockers, with access from 9:00 to 21:00. Its first-floor Yamato counter lists temporary suitcase holding from 9:00 to 18:00. Ask about size, space and the day’s terms.
The JR platform-one holding guide describes a separate counter near the middle of platform one, open daily from 10:00 to 18:30. It is cashless and inside the gates; entry from outside requires an admission ticket. Holding is for collection within that day’s hours, subject to accepted items.
Return to the exact place where you left the bag
Photograph the locker or counter details before leaving. LUSCA, the station lockers and the platform counter are separate collection points. Allow time to reach your chosen facility, retrieve the case and board your train.
If you are visiting Kinomiya Shrine or the Plum Garden, decide whether to keep the case at Atami or take it to Kinomiya before storing it. A southbound itinerary may not bring you back to Atami that evening.

Is the platform holding counter outside the gates?
No. It is on platform one inside the gates. JR says visitors entering from outside need an admission ticket.
Do all Atami counters close at the same time?
No. LUSCA’s Yamato counter lists 18:00, while JR’s platform counter lists 18:30. Check current hours and agree collection when depositing your bag.
