Who's Silk Crane?

We are a company that specializes in making travel easier for visitors to Japan. We offer storage and rental cars among other services for travelers.

  • Our site is SilkCrane.com and we are working on building content for Youtube that is fun, informative, engaging and promotes our services too :) If you are interested in making video guides related to traveling around Japan, skiing, foodie topics etc. We may be able to hire you to make content for us.

What we are looking for in a Japan content Video Creator

All the above plus the technical abilities to create good video with good audio. Someone who is camera shy might not be right. We have video editors so that is not required but could be an asset.

Topics: Wide Open! A vlog of a ski hill guide, a Ramen Guide for someplace, a drive to some-cool-place etc!

If this sounds fun to you please read on below.

More Structure About What We Are After and How To Proceed (last update Nov 20, 2025)

  • Video Stories about Japan THE STRUCTURE WE WANT

    • Above all there must be story value: Give a feel for the experience that the story is about. Good narration and fun reportage/storytelling.

    • A few minutes in total length when edited. If you want to start with something very short that is great too and might be a way to get warmed up.

    • Filmed so that there is enough in and out on the segments to use some portions as shorts

    • The videographer & friends should be a part of the story.

    • As any story a solid beginning middle and end with a crisis or fun point somewhere in there :)

    • Audio must be mic'd separately and very clear throughout

    • Video must be composed well, filmed smoothly and with good light.

    • We provide services for repeat travelers in Japan and so there must be a light hearted brief promo of SilkCrane in the footage.

    • We retain all rights and copyright to the footage once payment is made. You are welcome to link to it in your portfolio and use it to promote your pro content creation as it is on the venue we publish it in. Permission is not given to use any part of the footage for your own other projects in any form.

How to Proceed with your Big Idea

1. We Are Open to Your Ideas!

1.1. Already Have Content?

Maybe you already have acceptable content. If so, hit us up, and maybe it could be utilized soon. Please go to the next step:

2. Discord

Please read to the end first and then Let us know by this link you'd like to proceed and move the project to Discord and hopefully we can work together! We will create a Discord Channel for this project and invite you to it so that communications for the proposed project are in one place. The next step will be to write a brief for your idea.

3. A Brief of Your Idea

3.1. Are We Leaving the Idea Up to You?

Yes, mostly. If you are planning on upcoming filming with the structure above in place, that's great. It's likely you will be most invested in an idea that is yours. There are some hints above, but you will have your own great ideas, and we want to hear them!

3.2. What to Include in Your Brief

Please supply a brief for your idea and a proposed schedule for the project that suits your interests and time in Japan.

Also, let us know the equipment you'll be shooting on (camera & mic). It need not be super expensive, but it's important you know your way around good videography and audio.

In the brief please also include links to your prev. work or socials that are relevant.  If none, that is ok too but if you have some it helps us get to know you a bit.

3.3. Submission of the Brief

Please drop that brief on the Discord Channel, and we may have input or questions. Hold development on the project until we get back to you on the brief.

4. If We Are a Go on the Brief

4.1. Storyboard Request

Via the Discord Channel we created for your project, we will ask for a storyboard. We understand this can change in actual shooting, but we'd like to know you have thought it through.

4.2. After Receiving the Storyboard

  • We may have some input to help the project become a reality.
Based on the conversation, we may give the go-ahead with a proposed remuneration. If we get to this point, it means you have a great idea and a good chance that you'll produce some great video!

4.3. Final Steps

When you have a rough cut, we can go over it online and make arrangements to finalize the project files transfer and payment. If we got here, we definitely want to repeat on more projects!
