Takayama luggage storage: send your suitcase from the hotel and browse the morning market with less to carry.

5 Takayama Station Luggage Storage Options Compared

Let Takayama’s morning market be a leisurely stop. With Silk Crane, send your spare suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, enjoy town with a smaller bag and arrange delivery to a later hotel.

Monthly and annual storage are available, with shipping charged separately. If you need your suitcase back for today’s departure, compare the station lockers, bus-center lockers and local counters below. Most sightseeing starts on the east, Norikura-guchi side; the station’s west side is Hakusan-guchi.

A market morning before the next mountain town

Send the spare suitcase and browse Takayama’s morning market with a small bag.

Imagine a Takayama hotel stay followed by several nights traveling through central Japan. Your suitcase contains extra clothes and earlier purchases that can wait until the final Tokyo stay.

Sign up for Silk Crane and send the suitcase from the hotel front desk using the supplied instructions. Keep enough clothes and essentials for the shipping period in your smaller bag. Enjoy browsing the Miyagawa morning market, then continue without collecting a second bag. Arrange delivery to your later hotel ahead of time. A convenience store can also serve as your sending point.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day

Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery

Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.

Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Takayama Station and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.

Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.

2. Station lockers: useful when you return by rail

The Takayama station and locker guide identifies lockers around the station and i-CAFÉ on the east side. Published charges are ¥400 small, ¥600 medium and ¥700 large, with 24-hour access and a three-day limit including the first day.

Bring cash and check the current charge and dimensions at the compartment. Save its position before setting off: the ticket gates are upstairs, and the east–west passage is separate from the platform approach. Allow collection time before your train.

3. Nohi Bus Center lockers: keep collection near the bus

The bus center beside the station’s east side has coin lockers. The city’s station-area guide marks the bus center separately from the railway lockers. Nohi’s 2025 refurbishment added extra-large lockers, so older lists of sizes may not describe the current banks.

Read the posted fee, storage limit and access hours at your chosen compartment. This can suit an outing that returns to the bus center. If you are traveling onward without returning, leaving a suitcase here creates a collection trip; compare sending it to a later destination instead.

4. TABINO HOTEL Satellite: the station-front lounge

TABINO’s Satellite lounge guide lists 07:00–21:00 at 6-36-1 Hanasatomachi. Paid luggage holding is available to the public; TABINO hotel guests have a complimentary arrangement. Ask for the current charge for your bag and dates.

Walk to TABINO HOTEL Satellite — about 3 minutes / 220 m from Takayama Station’s map reference point. Use the Satellite address, not the main hotel outside the station area. Confirm collection before dinner if you will be returning late, and check space before relying on the lounge for an oversized item.

5. Sagawa: an old-town-side counter with an early finish

Sagawa’s Hida Takayama counter page lists 09:00–15:00 inside the tourist information center at 1-2 Honmachi. Daily holding costs ¥300 up to 80 cm, ¥500 up to 140 cm and ¥800 from 141 cm, measured by combined length, width and height.

Walk to the Hida Takayama Tourist Information Center — about 11 minutes / 750 m from Takayama Station’s map reference point. This is farther from the railway but can fit a collection plan around the old town. Use Sagawa’s current hours rather than older tourism pages showing a later closing time.

A nearby place to send your suitcase

Your hotel front desk may save a walk altogether. Already out with the case? Yamato’s directory lists this nearby branch as accepting shipments. It is a sending point, not a Silk Crane storage branch.

Walking directions to 7-Eleven Takayama Nadamachi 4-chome — about 6 minutes / 400 m from Takayama Station’s map reference point.

Yamato store listing

This branch lists 24-hour opening and Yamato shipment service. It is on the town side of the station; leave time for the walk and the shipping handoff. Convenience-store shipment listings exclude Size 180 and 200 parcels. Confirm the dispatch cutoff; 24-hour opening does not mean every bag leaves that day.

Walking estimates were checked October 5, 2026, from the map starting point named beside each link. Allow extra time for platforms, indoor navigation, stairs, queues and the handoff. These are useful examples, not a claim that they are the nearest stores.

Questions before choosing

Should I store luggage here before a one-way trip through Shirakawa-go?

A local locker suits a return to Takayama within its storage limit. For a one-way journey, compare direct forwarding or Silk Crane storage with later delivery. Keep everything needed during shipping with you.

Is TABINO’s luggage lounge at the main hotel?

No. Use the station-front Satellite address at 6-36-1 Hanasatomachi. The main hotel is a different destination; check the map label before walking.
