Keep your Japan travel kit ready for another visit instead of flying it home and back. With Silk Crane, send your suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, then arrange delivery for your next stay in Japan.
Choose monthly or annual storage, with shipping charged separately. If you need the bag before today’s flight, New Chitose Airport has local choices. This guide compares two different counter operators, ordinary lockers and Baggage Port, with the terminal and charging period made clear.

A lighter departure after a Hokkaido holiday

Imagine two regular Japan visitors finishing a Hokkaido trip. One suitcase contains belongings they prefer to keep in Japan for their next visit. They sign up for Silk Crane and send that case from the hotel front desk using the supplied instructions.
They keep flight essentials, documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping in their travel bags. At New Chitose, they can browse the airport shops without a second large suitcase. Before their next Japan holiday, they arrange delivery to their hotel. Airport holding would serve a different purpose: collecting the bag before a flight on this trip.
Leave the sports gear out of the sightseeing days
Bringing golf clubs, skis, a snowboard or a packed bicycle, but sightseeing first? Sign up for Silk Crane and send the gear from the airport Yamato counter using the supplied instructions. Keep the belongings you need during shipping, travel with smaller bags, then arrange delivery to your activity destination in Japan when it is time to use the equipment.
After the activity, you can send the gear or extra luggage into storage from your hotel, enjoy the rest of Japan or an Asia side trip, and arrange delivery to your final hotel in Japan or your Japan departure airport. Plan the delivery in advance. For a bicycle, measure the packed case before booking: cases over 200 cm in combined length, width and height cannot use this shipping service.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery
Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.
Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at New Chitose Airport and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.
Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.
2. Ordinary lockers: compare the 12-hour price
The airport’s locker prices and floor maps lists ¥300, ¥400, ¥500, ¥800 and ¥900 per 12 hours, depending on size, with a three-day maximum. Choose a bank in the terminal where you will return.
Measure the case before paying and allow time to collect before airline check-in. Opening hours for a telephone help desk are not a promise of round-the-clock terminal access. Refrigerated food lockers are separate from ordinary suitcase storage.
3. Central Leasing: three desks, different hours
The airport’s baggage-counter directory groups Central Leasing’s desks as follows: domestic 1F 07:00–20:00, domestic 2F 07:30–20:00 and international 3F 11:00–14:00. Holding costs ¥400, ¥600 or ¥1,000 per day according to size; skis, snowboards and golf bags use the large-item band.
These are locations of one provider, not three separate recommendations. Use the directory’s floor-map buttons and check your desk’s acceptance and collection conditions. The short international opening window is especially important when planning an afternoon flight.
4. SHIZUNAI LOGOS: international arrivals 2F
The same official airport counter guide lists SHIZUNAI LOGOS on international 2F, 09:00–18:00. Its published holding charge is ¥880 per suitcase per day regardless of suitcase size, or ¥1,100 for oversized items.
Check how your item is classified and collect before closing. A price displayed for forwarding is a different service; use the storage rate when comparing the cost of leaving a suitcase while you visit the airport shops.
5. Baggage Port: useful for a short, larger-item stop
New Chitose’s Baggage Port information and map describes space for larger cases and strollers. It costs ¥200 for the first hour, then ¥100 per additional 30 minutes, uses cashless payment and has a three-day maximum.
This charging pattern can suit a short visit but deserves a calculation for a longer stay. Use the specific Baggage Port floor map on the page, rather than assuming an ordinary locker pin marks the same facility.
Sending from the hotel or airport
Send your suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store before traveling to the airport. Already at New Chitose? The Central Leasing counter service listing includes parcel shipping, including Yamato, alongside local holding.
Sign up for Silk Crane first and follow the supplied sending instructions. Tell the counter you want parcel dispatch into storage, and confirm the shipping charge and timing. Neither a local storage fee nor a flight departure time establishes when a parcel will reach Silk Crane. Keep essentials with you and arrange your later delivery ahead.
Questions before choosing
Can Silk Crane hold a suitcase for collection before today’s flight?
Silk Crane is for belongings sent into storage and delivered later. For a bag needed before today’s departure, compare an airport locker, Baggage Port or a counter in the appropriate terminal.
Are all airport counters open until the evening?
No. Central Leasing’s international 3F desk lists 11:00–14:00. Its domestic desks and SHIZUNAI LOGOS have different hours. Use the exact desk’s schedule rather than general airport opening times.
Enjoy the next stop with less to carry
Send the extra luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later stop in Japan. Choose monthly or annual storage; shipping is charged separately.
