Nagoya Station luggage storage: send the extra suitcase from your hotel and take the onward train with a smaller bag.

Nagoya Station Luggage Storage: Lockers and Collection Routes

Take your next train from Nagoya with a smaller bag. With Silk Crane’s monthly and annual storage, send the suitcase you will not need for the next stretch of Japan from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, then arrange delivery to a later hotel. There is no return to a station locker to fit into your onward route. Shipping is charged separately.

For a few hours at Nagoya Station, look for a locker that fits both your suitcase and your route back. The station area brings together JR, subway, Meitetsu and Kintetsu services; the same station name does not mean the same concourse or gate.

Picture a lighter onward train journey

Imagine finishing a Nagoya stay after shopping, with several weeks still planned in Japan. You need a small bag for the next stops, but not the purchases and spare clothes filling your suitcase. Sign up with Silk Crane and arrange sending from your hotel before leaving for the station.

Now your onward train journey starts with the belongings you need. Plan delivery of the stored suitcase to a later hotel, rather than making a special trip back to Nagoya. For a bag you need tonight, choose a local locker or hotel holding instead.

Send your larger suitcase from the hotel and take the next train from Nagoya with less to carry.

Use the sending instructions supplied with your Silk Crane account. If you are already out with the packed suitcase, you can send it from a convenience store before continuing your train journey from Nagoya. Keep the clothes, documents and everyday essentials you need during shipping with you.

A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day

Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

Start with the operator and level

The subway Nagoya Station locker map identifies banks on B2F around the Sakura-dori Line and B1F around the Higashiyama Line. These are subway-side locations, not a promise that every locker is inside the JR concourse.

Use the map to choose a bank and note its floor, gate area and nearby landmark. Photograph the locker number and surroundings before leaving. If you arrive on a JR train, check the route to your departure platform before choosing a distant bank.

Read the rules on the machine

The subway operator’s guide lists a limit of three days including the starting day, with access during subway station operating hours. Those terms apply to its lockers; do not assume every JR, Meitetsu, Kintetsu or private locker follows them.

Payment methods differ between banks. Check the displayed price and renewal rules, keep the key or receipt safely, and measure wheels and handles as part of the suitcase. A label such as “large” is not a guarantee that your bag fits.

Leave room for Takashimaya and Gate Tower shopping

A few hours between trains can be time for department-store browsing. Takashimaya’s service information lists temporary holding at the Takashimaya Service Counter on 1F, north of Delicious Court in the North Block. Holding is listed from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at ¥1,100 for items that fit its container. Same-day purchases of at least ¥3,000 at JR Nagoya Takashimaya or Takashimaya Gate Tower Mall give up to five hours free. Space is limited; valuables, fragile items and fresh food are among the exclusions.

Takashimaya itself has no coin lockers. The same FAQ lists lockers near JR Gate Tower’s north elevators on 2F, with access from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Check the chosen compartment and current terms. The service counter’s shipping hours differ from its holding hours, so use the collection deadline for the service you actually choose.

Clothes and packed purchases that can wait for a later hotel can go to Silk Crane from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. The shopping and storage guide explains the arrangement. Keep tonight’s belongings locally and collect them before returning to your platform.

What if the lockers you find are full?

Have a second plan before a timed attraction visit. Ask your hotel about holding the bag, or use Nagoya’s official locker and luggage-service directory to check another service. Confirm the current location, opening hours and acceptance terms before walking over with a heavy suitcase.

For a short city stop, keep collection near the train you will take afterward. For Ghibli Park, leave enough time for the journey back and the walk to the correct bank; our Ghibli Park luggage guide explains why the park should not be your suitcase-storage fallback.

Choose between a locker, forwarding and storage

A locker works best when you return to the same place within its terms. Direct hotel-to-hotel forwarding may suit a bag you need at the next stop. Monthly or annual storage suits belongings you can travel without for longer, with delivery arranged ahead.

Use the Nagoya city luggage guide to connect the station decision with Osu, Sakae and the castle area. If shopping is the main event, the Osu shopping and luggage guide helps plan the extra bags too.

Questions before you leave your bag

Are there coin lockers at Nagoya Station?

Yes. The official subway locker map shows banks on the Higashiyama and Sakura-dori levels. Other operators have their own locations and rules.

Can I leave luggage overnight?

The checked subway operator guide permits up to three days including the first day, but collection is limited by station hours. Read your actual locker’s rules before relying on overnight storage.

Will a large suitcase fit?

Compare your packed bag’s measurements, including wheels and handles, with the compartment. Availability and size vary; keep a hotel or counter alternative in mind.

Can I collect luggage from a different station?

A normal locker requires collection from the same locker. With Silk Crane’s longer storage, you arrange shipping to a later hotel instead; it is not an instant station-to-station service.
