5 Kansai Airport Luggage Storage Options Compared
Share
Keep your Japan belongings out of an Asia side trip or the journey between visits. With Silk Crane, send extra luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery when you return to Japan.
Monthly and annual storage are available, with shipping charged separately. For luggage you need back at Kansai International Airport, also called KIX, compare local counters and lockers below. Start with your terminal and return time: a Terminal 1 counter is not a Terminal 2 pickup point.

Compare five choices before you walk
This is Silk Crane’s comparison, not an independent ranking. Choose by duration, bag size and collection plan. Prices are in yen; check the current charge for your bag and dates.
| Option | Price basis | Collection | Good fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silk Crane | Monthly or annual plan + separate shipping | Later delivery in Japan | An Asia side trip or a return visit |
| JAL ABC | Small ¥800 / medium ¥1,000 / large ¥2,000 per day | T1 north 1F or south 4F; 06:30–22:30 | Counter holding; suitcase = medium |
| Yamato T1 North 4F | S ¥500 / M ¥1,000 / L ¥1,500; confirm size and period | T1 north 4F; 06:30–22:30 | Holding or a separate shipment |
| n・e・s・t Kansai Airport | ¥800 per piece per day | Railway station; confirm pickup deadline | A counter near the trains |
| Airport lockers | SS ¥300 / S ¥500 / M ¥700 / L ¥900 / LW ¥1,200 per day/use | Selected banks 24 hours; up to ten days | T1, T2 or Aeroplaza local storage |
A change to older airport listings: KABS says its remaining T1 counter closes October 31, 2026. Its former 4F counter has already closed, and airport-bound delivery collection has ended. Do not use an old KABS address for a new shipment.
Japan shopping, Seoul for a few days, then back to Japan

Picture an Osaka stay followed by several nights in Seoul, then another week in Japan. The suitcase of Japan shopping and spare clothes does not need to take the side trip. You can leave it in storage and return with only what you need for Korea.
Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions and send the case from your Japan hotel front desk or a convenience store before departure. Keep the belongings needed during shipping and the overseas stay. Enjoy Seoul with a smaller bag, then have the suitcase delivered to your next Japan hotel on an arranged date. Silk Crane’s part of this journey is storage and delivery within Japan.
Leave the sports gear out of the sightseeing days
Bringing golf clubs, skis, a snowboard or a packed bicycle, but sightseeing first? Sign up for Silk Crane and send the gear from the airport Yamato counter using the supplied instructions. Keep the belongings you need during shipping, travel with smaller bags, then arrange delivery to your activity destination in Japan when it is time to use the equipment.
After the activity, you can send the gear or extra luggage into storage from your hotel, enjoy the rest of Japan or an Asia side trip, and arrange delivery to your final hotel in Japan or your Japan departure airport. Plan the delivery in advance. For a bicycle, measure the packed case before booking: cases over 200 cm in combined length, width and height cannot use this shipping service.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery
Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.
Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Kansai Airport and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.
Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.
2. JAL ABC: Terminal 1 counters for local holding
JAL ABC’s storage price guide lists KIX daily rates of ¥800 small, ¥1,000 medium and ¥2,000 large. It classifies a suitcase as medium. Both the drop-off and collection dates count toward the charge, and the maximum is 30 days.
The airport’s counter directory and location map places JAL ABC at T1 north 1F and south 4F, 06:30–22:30. Return to the same counter where you left the bag. Choose the floor around your arrival and departure, allowing time before airline check-in.
3. Yamato: the newer Terminal 1 north-side counter
Yamato’s counter is on T1 4F, north side near check-in counter A, open 06:30–22:30. Its current Kansai baggage information links to the August 2026 opening notice, which lists storage bands of ¥500 S, ¥1,000 M and ¥1,500 L.
Ask the counter which band and charging period apply to your bag. The notice does not define those sizes or multi-day charges, so do not assume that its “M” matches another operator’s suitcase category. This counter also handles shipments, a separate service from local holding.
4. n・e・s・t: a railway-station counter
Nankai’s n・e・s・t counter guide lists storage at ¥800 per piece per day outside the Nankai Kansai-Airport Station gates. Published storage drop-off is 09:30–20:30; confirm your collection deadline.
This can suit a return via the trains. It is at the station, rather than a Terminal 2 counter. Allow the terminal transfer before your flight, and use the operator’s map to find the desk.
5. Airport lockers: useful when the bank fits your terminal
The KIX locker directory and maps lists banks in T1, T2 and Aeroplaza with 24-hour access. Fees range from ¥300 SS to ¥1,200 LW per day and use; the large compartment is ¥900.
A new charging day begins at 02:00, and the maximum stay is ten days including the first day. Large internal dimensions are 86 × 34 × 65 cm; LW is wider at 86 × 55 × 65 cm. Check your packed case and the selected bank before paying. Reservations cost extra.
A T2 bank can avoid a Terminal 1 collection detour. These facilities are before security, so retrieve the bag before going airside.
Send before the airport, or use the right Terminal 1 counter
Your hotel front desk or a convenience store in town can let you start the airport journey with less luggage. Sign up for Silk Crane first and use the supplied address and instructions.
Already at KIX? Yamato’s new Terminal 1 north 4F counter, near check-in counter A, explicitly offers parcel dispatch. Use Yamato’s airport counter maps and the KIX delivery-counter directory for the indoor route. Ask for the shipping charge and dispatch cutoff; opening until 22:30 does not promise that a bag handed over late will travel that night.
If Silk Crane will deliver stored luggage for your departure, follow the counter details in your booking. Terminal 2 travelers need time to collect in Terminal 1 and transfer. Final-hotel delivery is often simpler when you want to unpack purchases or rearrange suitcases before flying.
Questions before choosing
Which option works for a departure from Terminal 2?
For local holding, check the airport’s Terminal 2 locker banks. The comparison counters are in Terminal 1 or at the railway station. For arranged Silk Crane airport delivery, follow your booking’s Terminal 1 collection details and allow transfer time.
Can I store a suitcase at KIX for several weeks?
JAL ABC lists storage for up to 30 days, charged by calendar day. Airport lockers have a ten-day limit. Compare the total with Silk Crane’s monthly or annual plan and separate shipping if your bag can be delivered to a later hotel.
Enjoy the next stop with less to carry
Send the extra luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later stop in Japan. Choose monthly or annual storage; shipping is charged separately.
