Hidaka Autumn Festivals: Biratori Beef & Erimo’s Coast

Choose the valley harvest or a meal near the open sea.

Hidaka’s autumn celebrations offer two different journeys: beef and tomatoes in Biratori’s valley country, or seafood and local produce in the coastal town of Erimo. With Silk Crane, send your extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, enjoy the visit with a smaller bag and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan. Storage plans are monthly or annual; shipping is charged separately.

Make room for your autumn journey

At a glance

  • Travel lighter: send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and plan later delivery. Shipping is charged separately.
  • Festival season: Look around September for Biratori’s festival and early October for Erimo’s sea-and-mountain celebration.
  • Stay for the place: Give Biratori and Erimo their own outings; the region stretches well beyond one compact circuit.
  • Before you book: use the official programme and transport links to choose your visit; an approximate season does not guarantee a particular event day.

Picture your autumn stop

Imagine taking a few days through Hidaka with only the clothes and essentials needed for this part of the trip. Your spare suitcase can wait while you enjoy an outdoor meal and a quieter regional stay. Sign up with Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions and send the spare suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store. Keep clothes, medicines, documents and everything needed during shipping; arrange delivery to a later Japan hotel in advance.

Two harvest tables, two destinations

The Biratori Beef and Tomato Festival brings local beef and agricultural produce into the spotlight around September. Check the current Nibutani venue and any advance food tickets before travelling.

Erimo’s Sea and Mountain Products Festival is generally an early-October event, with seafood, shorthorn beef and produce reflecting the area’s different livelihoods. The festival takes place in town, not at Cape Erimo itself.

Choose the occasion that best fits your route. Special food portions or activities may have limited availability, so check the programme without assuming that every attraction is open to every visitor.

Stay for the valley or the coast

In Biratori, leave time to learn about Nibutani beyond the festival meal. The Biratori Ainu culture guide can help you choose a separate museum or cultural visit with its own opening arrangements.

Erimo asks for a different pace. A coastal outing can complement the food festival when conditions suit, but plan the trip to the cape or another viewpoint separately from the town venue.

Biratori and Erimo are far enough apart to deserve separate travel decisions. A longer Hidaka stay may connect them; a relaxed festival day usually begins with choosing one.

Check food tickets and rural connections

Read the current event notices for food sales, booking requirements and access. If you rely on public transport, check every connection and the last useful return service before leaving.

Keep warm and wind-resistant clothing with you for outdoor time. A smaller bag helps at a festival table, but it should still contain everything needed for the weather and the journey onward.

Find another place to linger in our Hokkaido autumn festival guide. Choose your main event first, then compare travel connections and the current dates before adding another stop.

Keep what you need for autumn, send the spare suitcase

Send ordinary luggage from your hotel front desk or a convenience store to Silk Crane, then arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan. Monthly and annual storage plans are available; shipping is charged separately. Keep layers for cool evenings, rain protection, medicines, documents and everything needed during shipping.

Plan your stored luggage’s later delivery ahead of time. For a bag needed again tonight, ask your hotel about local holding. Storage fits the belongings you want out of the way between parts of your trip.

Before you plan your autumn visit

Can I walk between the two festival areas?

No. Biratori and Erimo are separate destinations across a large region.

When are these events?

Look around September for Biratori and early October for Erimo, then check current announcements.

Is Erimo’s festival held at the cape?

The festival is in the town’s sports-park area. A cape visit needs its own travel plan.

Do I need food tickets?

Check the current programme, particularly Biratori’s meat portions. Some sales or activities have limited availability.
