5 Hakodate Station Luggage Storage Options Compared
Share
Make Hakodate’s market breakfast the start of a lighter journey through Japan. With Silk Crane, send the extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, then arrange delivery to a later hotel.
Monthly and annual plans are available, with shipping charged separately. For luggage needed again after today’s outing, compare JR lockers, Yamato’s station counter, Morning Market lockers and guest holding at JR Inn. Hakodate Station and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto are different stations; this guide covers the city-center Hakodate Station.

Compare five choices before you walk
This is Silk Crane’s comparison, not an independent ranking. Choose by duration, bag size and collection plan. Prices are in yen; check the current charge for your bag and dates.
| Option | Price basis | Collection | Good fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silk Crane | Monthly or annual plan + separate shipping | Later delivery in Japan | An onward journey or repeat visit |
| JR station lockers | Medium ¥400–500; large ¥700–800 | Station 2F listed 06:00–22:00 | A bag needed after city sightseeing |
| Yamato station counter | ¥800 per item | Same day, by 17:00 | A staffed handoff on station 1F |
| Donburi Yokocho lockers | Check the selected compartment | Tourism listing: 04:00–22:00 | Breakfast or shopping at the market |

Breakfast at the market, then the next chapter

Imagine a couple staying in Hakodate before continuing through Tohoku. Their spare suitcase contains purchases they want at the final Tokyo hotel. They sign up for Silk Crane and send the case from their hotel front desk using the supplied instructions.
They keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping in their smaller bags. Breakfast at the Morning Market becomes an easy stop before the next train, without a separate collection errand for the stored suitcase. They arrange delivery to the Tokyo hotel in advance. If the case is needed on tonight’s train instead, local holding is the better comparison.
A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day
Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery
Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.
Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Hakodate Station and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.
Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.
2. Station lockers: upstairs in the city-center station
JR Hokkaido’s locker directory lists Hakodate charges of ¥400–500 medium and ¥700–800 large. The normal limit is three days including deposit day. Check the selected bank’s current rules and compartment dimensions.
Save the locker number and surrounding signs before leaving. Keep the receipt or payment card ready for collection, and leave time to reach your train after retrieving the case.
The city’s Hakodate luggage-storage directory places the station lockers on 2F, with access listed 06:00–22:00. Check your bank before leaving, especially if your plans run into the evening.
3. Yamato: collect by 17:00
Yamato’s current holding-price list specifies ¥800 per item and same-day collection by 17:00 at its JR Hakodate counter. The carrier’s counter directory places it on station 1F, 12-13 Wakamatsucho.
Use Yamato’s Hakodate Station counter map pin and station signs for the final approach. Ask staff about acceptance before heading out. This deadline may suit a morning market visit, but an evening view of the city needs a different collection plan.
4. Donburi Yokocho: lockers beside a market breakfast
The official Hakodate luggage guide lists lockers at Donburi Yokocho Market, 9-15 Wakamatsucho, with hours 04:00–22:00. The listing does not give a current locker fee, so check the compartment’s price and dimensions on arrival.
Walking directions from Hakodate Station to Donburi Yokocho — about 1 minute / 96 m from Hakodate Station’s map point. This route reaches the market, not a guaranteed vacant locker. Allow extra time to find the bank, deposit the case and return to the correct station platform.
5. JR Inn Hakodate: useful for hotel guests
JR Inn Hakodate’s guest FAQ confirms luggage holding on check-in and checkout days. Ask the hotel about collection and any charge for your arrangement. This is a guest service, not a public counter or a promise to hold belongings between distant stays.
The hotel’s station access guide explains the connected approach from the station: turn right after the ticket gates and follow the hotel passage before the west exit. That can save a separate outdoor storage stop when you are staying there.
Send before leaving Hakodate
Your hotel front desk or a convenience store can accept the ordinary-suitcase handoff for your Silk Crane shipment. Sign up first, follow the supplied instructions and keep essentials with you until your later delivery.
If you already have the bag at the station, Yamato’s Hakodate counter directory helps you locate its 1F desk. Ask about parcel dispatch, shipping cost and timing separately from its local-holding service. A same-day hotel-delivery offer is not a promise of same-day arrival at Silk Crane.
Questions before choosing
Is this guide for the Shinkansen station?
No. It covers Hakodate Station beside the city’s Morning Market. Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto is the separate Shinkansen station. Choose your storage and collection plan around the station you will actually use.
Can I leave a bag until after the night view?
Yamato’s station holding deadline is 17:00. The city lists later access for station and market lockers, but check the selected bank’s rules before leaving and allow time for your return journey.
