5 Hakata Station Luggage Storage Options Compared
Share
Enjoy Fukuoka’s food with less luggage to manage on the next train. With Silk Crane, send your extra suitcase from your hotel front desk or a convenience store and arrange delivery to a later stop in Japan.
Monthly and annual storage plans are available, with shipping charged separately. For bags needed after a few hours in town, Hakata has several local choices. The important differences are the counter floor, the collection deadline and whether you return by JR or subway.

Ramen tonight, a smaller bag through Kyushu

Picture a couple beginning a Kyushu journey in Fukuoka. Their plans include Nagasaki and smaller towns, then a final Tokyo stay. A second suitcase holds purchases and clothing they will not use for the next part of the trip.
They sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions and hand that case to their hotel front desk. Documents, medicine and enough clothing for the shipping period stay with them. That evening, they settle at a riverside food stall with small bags. The next morning, they can board their train without collecting the spare suitcase first.
They arrange delivery to the later Tokyo hotel ahead of time. For someone who needs all their luggage after a single Fukuoka afternoon, a Hakata counter or locker is the more direct comparison.
A convenience-store stop, then a lighter day
Already out with a suitcase you will not need for the next part of the trip? Picture sending it from a convenience store, then carrying on with a small bag. Sign up for Silk Crane, follow the supplied sending instructions, keep your essentials during shipping and arrange delivery to a later hotel in Japan.

1. Silk Crane: send the bag and arrange later delivery
Choose Silk Crane when your extra luggage can skip part of the journey. Send from your hotel front desk or a convenience store, keep a smaller bag and arrange delivery when you want the stored belongings again. There is no trip to a Silk Crane storage location or return to the same locker.
Cost: a monthly or annual plan, plus separate shipping. Compare the current storage plans together with sending and return-delivery costs. Silk Crane has no walk-in counter at Hakata Station and does not provide immediate retrieval or same-day local holding.
Sign up before sending and follow the supplied instructions. Keep documents, medicine and everything needed during shipping with you. The hotel and airport delivery guide explains how to plan the return. If you simply need the suitcase at your next hotel soon, direct forwarding may be the simpler choice.
2. Crosta Hakata: the 2F counter by Hikari Plaza
Crosta Hakata’s location and storage guide places the counter on station 2F near the Shinkansen Hikari Plaza gate, next to the ticket machines outside the gate. Opening is 09:00–20:00, with holding at ¥1,000 per item per day.
Crosta allows up to 30 days, with daily charges for longer holding. Calculate the total before choosing it for several nights away. Its hotel and airport delivery services are separate arrangements; a storage payment alone means collecting at the counter.
3. Yamato: collect stored luggage by 19:30
Yamato’s station-counter directory lists the Hakata Station Counter at 1-1 Hakataeki Chuogai. Its current baggage-storage price and collection list gives ¥1,000 per item and same-day collection by 19:30.
The counter’s own directory entry lists general opening 08:00–20:00. Use 19:30 for collecting stored luggage rather than assuming you can wait until the counter closes. Follow Yamato’s map pin for the Hakata Station Counter and station signs for the final indoor approach. The Ming counter is a different location.
4. JR-area lockers: choose your bank before leaving the station
The JR Hakata City locker map helps locate banks around the station complex. the locker operator’s guide also identifies areas such as Hikari Plaza and the Chikushi side. Choose around your return route, rather than the first empty bank you see.
Read the price and permitted storage period on the actual compartment. Larger cases need more than an available small locker. Photograph the bank and nearest exit, keep the receipt or IC card used to lock it, and add collection time to the journey to your departure platform.
5. Subway lockers: useful when your outing ends on the same line
The Fukuoka subway locker guide provides Hakata location information separately from the JR-area map. This can suit a subway trip around Fukuoka when you will return through the same part of the station.
Check the floor, access hours, size and displayed charge before depositing. Do not assume an underground locker is accessible whenever the shopping streets above it are open. If you leave Fukuoka by Shinkansen, include the walk from the subway bank back to the JR gates in your collection plan.
Send from your hotel or the station’s Yamato counter
Your hotel front desk or a convenience store can let you arrive at Hakata with fewer bags. If the suitcase is already with you, Yamato Hakata Station Counter’s directory confirms parcel dispatch, with 08:00–20:00 opening and an 18:00 same-day dispatch cutoff.
Sign up for Silk Crane first, use the supplied shipping details and ask staff to confirm acceptance for your bag. This is a separate parcel shipment, not local counter storage. The operator’s counter map identifies the location; allow time to find the desk and complete the handoff.
