AF-2 Preview — Luggage Storage in Japan

Plan your storage with confidence

Silk Crane provides planned luggage storage for multi-stop travel, accommodation gaps, time outside Japan, and repeat visits. It is not a daily, overnight, or same-day station locker or public walk-in self-storage service.

How luggage storage works
  1. Choose and book. Use the selector above to choose your item and storage plan. Storage covers intake, identification, storage, administration, and preparation when you request your belongings again.
  2. Receive your sending details. After booking, Silk Crane sends your assigned storage address, suite, and instructions. Do not send anything before you receive those details.
  3. Send your luggage. Ordinary luggage can commonly be sent with Yamato/TA-Q-BIN from an eligible staffed hotel, airport counter, participating convenience-store shipping location, or another agreed origin in Japan.
  4. Receive check-in confirmation. Silk Crane identifies your belongings at intake and sends a confirmation.
  5. Request delivery. Send your destination and timing details at least seven days before you need the luggage. Typical domestic return transit is about three to five days after dispatch, subject to carrier and travel conditions.

Domestic shipping and optional services are charged separately from storage.

Travel without every bag

Continue a multi-stop trip

Leave a large suitcase in storage and travel with a carry-on or backpack while changing cities, using trains, or visiting places where you do not need everything you brought.

Bridge a hotel or accommodation gap

Use planned storage when a hotel cannot keep luggage after checkout, your next hotel will not accept early delivery, or accommodation dates do not line up. Staffed hotels must agree to send or receive the luggage. Airbnb and vacation-rental delivery needs an attended carrier handoff or an agreed staffed fallback.

Store luggage between visits

Repeat travelers can keep eligible clothing, luggage, and ordinary travel belongings in Japan, arrange another delivery, and return them to storage while their account and payment remain active.

Store purchases when appropriate

With an active account, eligible purchases may be sent to your assigned address and stored with other belongings. Package receiving, purchase storage, and consolidation can be part of the service, subject to current handling requirements.

What you can store

Common eligible items include suitcases, carry-ons, duffels, backpacks, boxes, clothing, ordinary travel belongings, and eligible purchases sent to your assigned address.

Ask Silk Crane before sending oversized luggage, specialist equipment, an unusual item, or anything you are unsure about.

Do not send dangerous or restricted goods, food, liquids, flammables, prohibited valuables, or an undisclosed lithium battery. Power banks and other lithium batteries require advance disclosure and separate handling.

Delivery to your next stop

Staffed hotel

Confirm that the hotel can accept luggage for your reservation and provide the reservation and delivery details.

Airport departure counter

Provide the airport, terminal, airline, flight, departure date, and requested pickup time early enough for Silk Crane and the carrier to confirm the handoff.

Airbnb or private accommodation

Arrange a time when someone can receive the carrier. If that is not possible, use an agreed staffed fallback such as an eligible Yamato office.

Another destination in Japan

Ask Silk Crane whether the destination and timing are eligible before relying on the arrangement. The core service is domestic within Japan; international shipment requires confirmation before booking.

Secure, planned storage

Your belongings are identified after arrival and kept in humidity-controlled, secure indoor storage with 24/7 SECOM monitoring. You receive confirmation after check-in and arrange retrieval in advance.

Coverage during storage or shipping depends on current terms and who has custody of the item. Contact Silk Crane for current coverage options and limits before sending valuable belongings, and do not place prohibited valuables inside stored luggage.

Special items and additional services

The complete selector shows the currently available item and plan choices. Ask Silk Crane before sending sports gear, a bicycle, an unusual item, or anything needing maintenance or special handling.

Buying help, maintenance, shipping, and other optional work remain separate from the storage price.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a luggage locker?

No. Silk Crane provides planned storage rather than a public walk-in, daily, overnight, or same-day locker.

Can I send a suitcase from a hotel or convenience store?

Often, yes. Confirm that the staffed hotel or participating shipping location accepts the package, then follow the instructions Silk Crane sends after booking.

Can you deliver to a hotel, Airbnb, or airport?

Delivery can be arranged to an eligible staffed hotel, airport departure counter, Yamato office, or another agreed destination in Japan. An attended handoff is required where the destination does not provide staffed receiving.

Should I choose monthly or annual storage?

Monthly storage can fit a shorter or changing period. Annual storage can fit repeat visits or belongings kept in Japan for about a year. Use the selector for current plans and prices.

Is shipping included?

No. Domestic shipping is separate and normally applies to each package and movement. Optional services are separate too.

Can I use the service again?

Yes. While your account and payment remain active, you can arrange repeated storage and delivery cycles. Plan each delivery in advance.
